[UNIT] Mighty Ships Et Al

I thought of another possible good Civ V conversion. The Korean Hwacha. in Civ IV, it's really cartoony and strange, but 5 looks much more real, I think. Possibly.

This one was a bit more difficult than most. For one, Blender kept giving errors when I imported the vanilla Hwacha. It said "Bone object has no attribute constraints". In the past I just moved on to a different less complex unit, but that wasn't an option this time. After trial and error playing with the import settings I found that un-selecting "Import Extra Nodes" solved it.

Also did the Turtle Ship. :D

Woooow.
I'm assuming by now you've hacked the Matrix mainframe & behind those dark-tinted sunglasses you're 24/7 streaming beauteous green digital rain.

Anyway, thank you MightyToad for being our Prometheus and nabbing Civ5 goodies to share with us mere mortals :goodjob:

The ships are looking great, but do still not work for Civ4 Colonization. That is a pitty. The models need to be reworked completely. Would that be ok for you, if I use the models to build new ships, i.e. that I make them ready for Colonization? I would just use the pure model because everything needs to be done again - damage model, rigging etc. because nothing works with Colonization.

Sure, I don't care what you do with the models. They are available anyone and everyone for any purpose.

I thought colonization could use BTS units, but I don't have that game so couldn't begin to determine why they wouldn't work there.

That's because Toad's a great guy. :) MightyToad, is it possible to see the Civ V cities in a model viewer? I don't want to use them for Civ IV, but I am hoping to use them as inspiration for making new Civ IV cities. In particular, Asian industrial, and Meso industrial.

You mean is there an equivalent of nifskope for gr2 files? Sort of...

Grannyviewer can view them, but I haven't used it much TBH. I don't know what all it can do.

Ah I see, I'll have to look into that more then.

About to go on a plane back to America, so, that'll be about 11 hours. Might as well work on Civ designs in that time. :)

@Sword_Of_Geddon Wasn't there some Civ III mod where there was a Native American chariot design? I could've sworn there was. I'm looking for it, nothing yet. Thinking of trying to make a Haida chariot.

Yeah I have to second what Tant said. That is incredible...beyond impressed by those african units....
Thanks :D
I'm thinking of doing two mesoamerican units. I was thinking a pikeman and galley/trireme. I've looked around, but good images for textures are hard to find. The main problem is you need a clean non stylized picture(no weird lighting and dramatic shaddows). Also a profile view from the front, side, and top.
This looks awesome and what I want to make, but not very useful for modeling:

As for the ship... I was thinking basically a Viking longship, but with a queztalcoatl figurehead.
I wonder if you could do a mounted version of the swordsman. A sort of knight.
That should be easy since I already have cavalry models made last week.
