Minecraft

My game always crashes right after I load a new world (w/ 1.9 pre-release). Does anyone have a fix? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail.

I'm having love and hate relationship with it. Most worlds are great. But... I don't know if it's just me but it seems every world I made was immediately epic everywhere. At this point I'm not even impressed or thrilled anymore when I find an epic cove or piece of awesome landscape because I'm saturated.

They perfect the terrain generator and now you want it to dialed back! :p

NPC Villagers are... less than what I expected.

NPCs are getting another update for 1.10, including improved behaviors. However NPCs will only generate in newvillages. Existing 1.8 villages will remain ghost towns. This will reduce the need to start a new world after 1.9.

Meh. Both the villages on the CnB server are probably better off abandoned. One of them is half flooded XD

I don't think that word means what you think it means.

It appears that I am having trouble logging into minecraft. It keeps failing, so I have to redownload minecraft every single time to play multiplayer minecraft. Is there a solution to this problem? It has started since the release of the 1.8 update.

Try deleting your .minecraft/bin folder?

Um, that made matters slightly worse by disabling my ability to play offline. Other than that, nothing happened.

Spoutcraft (should have a release for 1.8.1 tomorrow)?[/QUOTE]

Ok, I've had a little look around, but I'd like a little more detail there before I fall into the wrong path.

Spout is a easy to use client mod (it uses its own data directory, never touches vanilla minecraft) that contain a number of performance optimizations, such as optifine as well as reducing bandwidth use by cacheing chunks. It also has a number of features for multiplayer servers such as capes, dynamicly changing texture packs, and in game custom music.

People on the bulkkit forums have been working on opening up other heights, such as 1024 tall maps:

I want deserts to be almost as large as the tundra in this map

Thanks for the information, Croxis. I'll avoid the tall maps mod.

@Cardgame. That's an awsome map. It reminds me of civilisation maps (II or IV). ;)

I was just thinking that, too. Reminds me of Aeson's 65,000 points game where he started on the tundra.

Well since you've expressed interest, the seed is lalochezia (I think).

Look through here for more, croxis already linked it on this page though :p

I like this one - (nadir)

Looks like it might be a snowy sub-continent! Very few trees, too (you start on that sub-continent). Good survival map, I think. The "accordingly" seed (page two) looks like a nice large-island type map.

Snow biomes are now simply massive! Not sure if I entirely like that, but on your lovely subcontinent there Chieftess, it looks great! :)
