Minecraft

I wish I had this kind of inspiration. That's my problem with the game, I never quite know what to build. When I do I don't quite know where to start. I think I try to "use the geography" almost too much. Like last world I generated I saw a weird mountain that almost looked like a sleeping dragon or something and I decided to make a dragon shaped stronghold... Um... Well I gave up before I even started as I was walking circling the mountain over and over again wondering where to start and what kind of blocks I'd need and what to do. So I just did what I always do; make a mine shaft, mine for diamond... And... nothing.

That happens. My recommendation is that you should join multiplayer servers as soon as you know the basics of minecraft. There you will be inspired by others. Take me for example, one guy inspired me to build an apartment skyscraper and so I with the outside made out of the logs and white wool in vertical stripes with 2 rows of glass marking out each floor. Although, heh, the 1.7.2 exploit was still around. The person that inspired me had built a factory which mass-produced the stuff I needed. Thanks to croxis, he also had the shop mod active on his server which also helped in gathering much needed ingredients quickly. ;)

There's also creative mod which helps. A good source of inspiration using creative mod would obviously be from youtube, either by making huge buildings with special decorations, complex redstone wiring or adventure quests. :)

Yeah but at least he's kind of half convincing me to try multiplayer again at some point :p

If/when you are feeling in the Minecrafting mood again message me, I'll get you whitelisted.

This is a screenshot of a save I downloaded. What's the maroon colored rectangle that's going up to the top of the screen? Memory usage? And what's the white/red squigly lines going up and down?

BTW, I have 3 Gigs of RAM in my system. I'm guessing it's letting the OS use 1 gig. (Good thing I upgraded the RAM 5 years ago, or else I probably couldn't even start Minecraft!)

Now, this was after it stopped raining and lightning. It was worse before... It's 3-5 seconds per frame (not frames per second), possibly double, right now! It's also with low graphics settings, too.

Vech's Canopy Carnage only does marginally better in the rain (1fps average).

Fortunately, a new PC's coming soon (just gotta decide the case. Corsair Obsidian for ironic grins and giggles? Expensive, though, but I like simple looking cases.).

Old PC = Dell XPS Gen2 (Pentium 4 w/HT, nVidia 7600 GS - card crashes almost instantly whenever there's 3D particle effects).
New PC = asus P8Z68-V pro i7 (nVidia GTX 580).

Pssst, Sendos, Rubrum isn't new to Minecraft ;)

I didn't know. Sorry.

I was in a way, because I got bored of single player minecraft. Multiplayer minecraft really helped me when it came to seeing new people and their building designs. However, thanks to 1.8 and 1.9, I'm enjoying single player minecraft a bit more. :)

Oil, eh? I was just looking at the yogscast's video trilogy of the industrial/buildcraft mod, containing oil.

I wonder what's next: climate change? We're going to be burning oil and coal now. :p

This game needs to be optimized. I've noticed on Minecraft YouTubes that the number of AIs closeby is the first thing that chugs a machine down. Your new comp should be more than adequate; I have 8 gig RAM installed with a GTX 550 Ti and haven't had much trouble other than slowdown in the horizon.

The new 1.9p3 has a pie chart in the f3 screen.

It also generates a third world. Research is being done on it. It may be in regards to a new room in strongholds. Blocks are fixed with the new ender eye's item

Looks like a platform that would teleport you up into a skyworld.
