Minecraft

Tbh, I'm hoping for Notch to fix some issues that are in the game currently, rather than adding more content into it. More power to better combat though.

1.7 is out BUT DON'T UPDATE

From the bukkit forums:
Current crashes: (from IRC)

- right clicking sheep with hand
- pushing non-solid blocks (like water) with pistons
- trying to open this piston: http://i.imgur.com/EEmJY.png

If you are running singleplayer, client will crash. If you are running multiplayer, server will throw an error and freeze. And map will be unusable after crash.

Why do the new patches contain fail and AIDS?

I was so excited I thought I had gotten a working escalator, but I was so tired I forgot the fact that pistons only extend 1 block. :(

Two unfinished features in this picture coming in 1.8.

Hint: NPc villages and giant mushrooms!
Spoiler :

Apparently giant mushrooms are their own Biome. I hope they get a unique ground texture in the final version.

Minecraft is getting more... fantasy. Not sure whether I like it or not.

It's strange yes, at the same time, I'm excited, but also... I don't know. NPC villages in particular I'm not too sure about. Something about the loneliness in Minecraft seems an important part of the experience, as the popularity of the Herobrine meme and HOLY CRAP CREEPER videos kind of confirm, in a way.

While Notch's coding skills are somewhat... dubious at times, I have full confidence in his and jeb's skill at game design. I am almost certain they are aware at the sense of loneliness and how it impacts the game (unless you are playing multiplayer which is the exact opposite). 1.8 is going to be about exploration -- rewards for going out into the world instead of your isolated starting zone.

I don't like the mushrooms. Do the villages have npcs in them?

Ok, I just was afraid they'd just be buildings in the middle of nowhere with nothing. So it seems a lot like MineColony.

I hope the NPCs don't mine me redesigning their village. Because its hideous. Don't care about giant mushrooms though, never really appealed to me. Its all good additions though, more to explore is good.

Still want more to build though.
