I have a computer connected to a 60" rear projection LCD HDTV and I've been trying to do some Civ4 gaming on it. I figure if I'm gonna stay up really late at night for "one more turn" I might as well do it in bed
I use the DVI output on a 6800GT to connect to the TV's HDMI input, with the latest forceware drivers.
Windows looks great, with a custom resolution of 1176x664 (720p adjusted for overscan) which is what I use most of the time. I can also do 1768x992 but then the font is really small and too hard to read at my viewing distance.
Now, I have tried setting the ScreenHeight and ScreenWidth parameters in the ini file to 1176x664 but the renderer fails to initalize. From the logs it actually looks like it's ignoring the ini settings and trying to go 1600x1200 (the resolution I use when connected to my monitor, so my question is: is there a minimium resolution for Civ 4? Probably 1024x768?
I did get the game to use 1768x992 but the text is impossible to read
Has anyone tried this? Any tips for big screen gaming?
Thanks,
Kielby
