I would prefer to conquer when it's worth it. So basically when they have cities that actually have population and some infrastructure built, instead of just barren cities. Once the samurai come we have to move quickly before they secure gunpowder though.

Samurai have 4 defense and 2 moving and considering that AI is stupid we'll cut of their saltpeter and iron in no time. And then they are dead meat

I say we crush all our foes at the soonest possible chance. Once we get Samurai we conquer our continent, then the rest of the world won't know of our little deed. Diplomatic victories are too boring for my taste.

again I reiterate(sp?)that I am in favor slaughtering the Zulus(or any aggressive African natives whose leaders names I can't pronounce) and then taking an agressive stance against the opponent that we stand the most to gain by beating such as bablyon

I have a suggestion:

We should wait until we have a more complete view of the land, ie: wait until we know as much as possible about the terrain, resources and nieghboring civs around the Roman and Zulu empires. I say this because any conquests we make now will seriously effect our future game. Once we have more intell on the terrain, we could make a more educated and informed choice on who to attack (and who to avoid).

There is a lynchpin to that strategy:

Control of the Seas until Astronomy.

Only one thing can do that for us:

The Great Lighthouse.

If we have this, access to other continents would be at our will. (Meaning our ships stay at port all the time since this is Vanilla.)

If a civ from another Continent has this, they will probably find us. If a civ on our continent has this, they will find others. Either of these would likely take place right as we gear up for our "consolidation" plans.

If we want to control our continent, we need to keep others out until we have it. If we want Continenta Domination AND Diplo Victory, GLight>HG OR GLib. (That last sentence probably would not apply since Fan is 1 tile inland. Zojoji, on the other hand...)

We're not evil, just overly hostile . Considering that the Babylon have the weakest military, this does not bode well for them in the future.

This thread does not reflect well for pacifists. I am what you call a phony pacifist. I don't advocate going to war for expantionist reasons, but I do advocate pissing off the Zulu's enough somehow so they declare war first. It looks better for our country, anyway.

After better look at current world map i think Rome has least cities and space to expand. They will be vulnerable and they are close to us. Even if they get Legionary they will never be able to produce them enough because with our larger empire we can easily outnumber them.

Yes but they will still be a thread and will possibly kill a few, whereas the Zulu will be easy to beat.
