I am thinking of adding an era to my city sets, which will be the age of Mythology. And i will probably start it with either Minoan or Mycenaean cities. Problem is i have very little concept art of them, and whereas there are some ruins of Knossos, and some reconstructions of the palace, again i would be requiring three or four common buildings too.

So if you feel like it you could help me with concept art for those two pre-classical civilizations :)

A large central citadel with large walls for Mycenae. For the Minoans, base it off the Palace of Knossos:

I had heard somewhere that the way the palace at Knossos was reconstructed wasn't really accurate at all. Is that true? I don't think it matters for Civ purposes since you have to go with what you got but I'm just curious.

Sir Arthur Evans, the guy who excavated the Knossos Palace(and named it a palace even though it probably wasn't one), hired a Dutch-English architect and two French painters, none of whom had any training in archaeology, to restore the palace. Evans was so determined to get it restored he didn't let the lack of any Minoan artwork slow them down so he told the architect and painters to use their imaginations instead!

Now we have pretty dolphin frescoes!

Wait...so even like the bull-jumping frescoes are fake? So how do we know anything about Minoa?

The bull-jumping frescoes are based on fragments Evans found while excavating in the room next to where they placed the fake dolphin fresco. His reconstructions had figures wearing a mixture of male and female clothing, so archaeologists have been trying to make more accurate reconstructions in the last few decades. Bull jumping frescoes have been found in more places than Knossos(even as far as Egypt!), so they weren't just a part of Evan's imagination.

I like it, though I don't know enough to comment on its historical accuracy.

I like the blue roofs the best :goodjob:

Plus, even if it's not accurate, it would lead into eventually having the stereotypically blue roofs of the Cyclades in the medieval or industrial era.

Would the labyrinth of Crete be some kind of wonder in this scenario?

Switched to Mycenae, since the houses were modeled after Tiryns and Mycenae anyway.

Does it look good?

As for the labyrinth, it might be made, not for any specific scenario though..
