That's a small modification I made for personal use to ensure that civilisations will leave some empty land and thus space for animals during the entire game. Hyborerm will probably benefit as well, since he's more likely to get some breathing space - note that jungle automatically disappears when it turns to hell terrain. You may want to try tropical or cold map setting, I guess it will lead to interesting gameplay.
This modification features the following changes:
- You can't build any cities on jungle (of course you can after you remove it) or ice.
- You can't build any cities on tundra, unless it's coastal.
- You can't build any cities on desert or burning sands, unless they are coastal or near fresh water.
- Jungle spread rate is greatly decreased (to balance the no cities on jungle effect).
- Ice movement cost is increased to 2.
- The non playable civilisations will not be used by the AI either (so that you won't play against any civilisations intended for Shadow or Ice).
It was made with version 0.23.
I must admit that I got the idea from Rhye's and Fall of Civilization mod.
To install this modification, unzip it in your Civilization 4/Mods/Fall from Heaven folder. Note that it will overwrite your original files, you may want to backup them first.
Note that due to my real life concerns I rarely visit civfanatics, so don't be surpised if reply after a long time, or even not at all. However I thought I should share this minor modification, there may be more people looking for something like this.
