MLDR003 - NOW in the big D

So meldor, I guess you're saying that all victory conditions should have been active, am I reading you correctly? :D

I'm not going to be able to play the next MLDR, unfortunately (although I hope to be back for #5 or #6 at the latest), so don't let the fact that I don't have Conquests yet affect your decision.

I have seen that and the gpt issue that Arathorn has brought up. I would expect a patch to be forth coming. I think that we can deal with it. It is the AI that most likely won't have a clue.

That thread is a real eye-opener. I suppose it was naive even to hope that Conquests would work properly out of the box, given the whole dubious history of the computer-game industry. If you want to be a beta tester, just buy a game in its first six months on the market. ;)

Got C&C, so no problems with the "Austrian Contingent"
(Het, what about using Austria :D )

I started with this link,

Master Ray's post is the one that gives an answer.

I'm almost certain I saw this confirmed somewhere else, too...Apolyton, maybe? Sorry, I don't remember exactly where.

Thanks Arathorn. I'd say that this quoted part is a reasonable summary.
1. GPT added twice in deals with other Civs.
2. Corruption not calculating properly due to "fix" for RCP.
I noticed in LotR11 that refusing to reup the Ottoman peace treaty was an automatic declaration of war. I'm almost certain thats a bug also.

This is NOT a bug. When a 20-turn peace treaty ends that includes GPT payments, the AI will always renegotiate the treaty to get rid of the GPT payments. You refused to accept a peace treaty - the AI will declare war.

1600 (3), IT: No counterattacks apart from bombardment.

1605 (4): We found the tactical city of New Aydin near Rusicade.

A 28-artillery barrage reduces Rusicade from size thirteen to size six. The bombardment doesn't do much damage to the garrison, as we're saving most of our artillery for the harder objective of Theveste; even so, we take the town from its garrison of four inf, one guerrilla, and one artillery for the loss of just one tank.

We found the tactical cities of New Antalya and New Konya near Theveste--the former to give access to Theveste itself, the latter so that we can bombard the tile containing its radar tower.

A 66-artillery barrage reduces Theveste, the new Carthaginian capital, from size sixteen to size six, and yellowlines most of the garrison. We take the town from its garrison of six inf, three riflemen, and two artillery for the loss of one tank, and gain control of Leonardo and Shakespeare.

We abandon Oea and Rusicade.

We found the tactical city of New Adana on the ruins of Rusicade--in this case, so that we can rush transports close to Hadrumetum Island.

IT: The Carthaginians manage one tank counterattack, which destroys an inf in Hippo.

1610 (5): A final moment of glory for our Sipahis, as only they can reach the three cities in Carthage's forested north this turn.

We take Carthago Novo from its garrison of two inf and one guerrilla without bombardment, using tank armies (no loss).

We pick off a tank outside Hippo and gain our fifth Great Leader of this round. I decide to hoard this one, in case we want to rush an airport as part of our invasion of Arabia.

A 27-artillery barrage redlines the garrison of Cirta, and we take the town (held by two inf, one art) for the loss of one Sipahi.

A rather inefficient 50-artillery barrage is necessary just to redline the two-infantry garrison of Sulcis, but our Sipahis then take the town without loss.

We abandon Cirta, Sulcis, and Tula, founding a colony to retain access to Tula's incense.

We found the tactical city of New Sinop near Saldae.

A 19-artillery barrage reduces Saldae from size seven to size three and yellowlines the garrison. We defeat the city's garrison of three inf and a tank for the loss of two Sipahis, and raze it.

We abandon Carthago Novo.

We disperse a Bactrian camp in the citiless wasteland which used to be the eastern part of the Aztec empire.

IT: No counterattacks apart from bombardment.

1615 (6): We take (and soon abandon) Carthage's final town, the island city of Hadrumetum, destroying the garrison of two inf and one guerrilla and losing a tank. The Carthaginians remain in the game because they have a settler...but happily, they turn out to have landed it east of Meldorton. So:

THE FUTURE:

I'm handing the game over almost at the beginning of the 1615 AD turn, so that you'll have a free hand to position our forces before declaring war on the Arabs. Only the units involved in finishing off the Carthaginians, and a few workers, have used their movement.

Most of our strength is concentrated in and around New Bursa, Calixtlahuaca, and Aydin. The GL is in New Bursa, the empty armies in Calixtlahuaca, and the settlers in Aydin. You should also look into Istanbul and New Adana.

We have ten transports off Tlatelolco, and another two escorted by a battleship a bit farther east. With these we should be able to establish a good ferry service between Atzcapotzalco and Najran on the Arab island, or between the cities with which we replace these two.

We're only 81 tiles from domination, so we need to be careful.

:goodjob: NP. Now Abu, he seems to think he is save on his little island

@Meldor: I had no spare time to look at the editor, but I thought Austria is the 'hidden' civ, industrious and militaristic, UU is the Husar, a 7/3/3 cav,
but I'm Ok with other civs as well.

Hmm, the Austrians look like a tremendous civ for our kind of game--the Chinese characteristics, which we've been wanting to try, without China's quickly obsolete UU.

Belisar,

Don't know if I'm going to be able to grab this before Friday night or even Saturday (hell week at work) ... if you're able to play, do you want to jump ahead of me?

NP, great job finishing off Carthage. I guess it isn't too early to talk about the next one!

@Belisar, I haven't been one to play around with the editor but that sounds great. If you can set us up a game with them and it have a reasonable layout (play at least until you know we have access to iron), then we can start the next one.

@ChrTh, you are brave indeed to swap at this point, Belisar may not leave you anything. The longest part of taking out the Arabian island will be getting the troops there. I didn't sell them anything that would get them a unit higher than the cav and inf.
