MLDR003 - NOW in the big D

@Belisar, I haven't been one to play around with the editor but that sounds great. If you can set us up a game with them and it have a reasonable layout (play at least until you know we have access to iron), then we can start the next one.

I will test it, but it would be nice to agree on settings (do we go standard/continets again? Maybe one less opponent?) and difficult level.
NOW on demigod or deity seems feasible, but because of the changes in C&C, it will be a very difficult game. Just wanted to point out what we are facing, but with this great team....
I would suggest Meldor opens a thread (after all it is his serial), we collect the team, discuss the settings and I will test the Austrian civ in the meantime, while ChrTh takes his time for finishing this one.
Then I would post the start and go last in the rotation, having something like 20-30 turns spoiler-knowledge.

@ChrTh, you are brave indeed to swap at this point, Belisar may not leave you anything. The longest part of taking out the Arabian island will be getting the troops there. I didn't sell them anything that would get them a unit higher than the cav and inf.

I agree with Meldor, take your time. I'm up in LOTR11, will likely finish may turns tonight. Then I will test the editor to see if we can use Austria (btw, any suggestions for a different civ?), so I would probably need as long as you. If you really have no time to play, we could swap, but in this case I would only play about 5 turns (which takes a long time anyway) and hand it over for you to finish it.

I still have PTW games with some time to run. Could I ask you gentlemen what's involved in switching between PTW and Conquests on the same computer?

As the above question implies, I haven't played a moment of solo Conquests yet. So, meldor, please put me into a late spot in the rotation for the next game, though I realize I may have to go before whoever pre-investigates the map.

The responses in this thread are so quick it's practically a chat room. :goodjob: Thanks, AS.

Turn 0 -- 1615 AD
And then there was one...

Goals for this turn:
Conquer the Arabian Pen...er, Island.

Before declaring war, I check to see that Arabia ... DOES NOT HAVE RUBBER! :D

I start war by taking Atzcap...NP only left me one Sipahi on the home continent, so I was unable to take the lone Arabian city! I do kill the SoD though (two spears, an MDI, and an archer)

I plant a spy in Mecca. They have:
4 settlers
17 rifles
4 cavalry
60 infantry (damn, must've been getting the rubber from somewhere else)
4 artillery
17 guerillas

MMOLots of stuff

Turn 1 -- 1620 AD
Sades falls, but not before a transport hightails it out of there
ACK, I lose an empty transport to a sub!

We take out a barbarian encampment and get 25 gold!

I land a nice sizable stack near Najran... in preparation for ...

Turn 2 -- 1625 AD
Attack on Nadran .. artillery can't get it below 12, so I lose 5 or 6 tanks...but I kill a battleship :)

I install a new governor, but only so I can ferry an ungodly amount of troops over...which I spend the next fifteen minutes doing. I raze Nadran and build New Kafa.

I get a nice SOD ready to take out Arabia...

Turn 3 -- 1630 AD
Arabia sends a mini-SOD towards New Kafa, where they're pinned between the Nadran-assaulting mini-SOD and the arabia-conquering big one. It'll be like shooting fish in a barrel...
We destroy the mini-SOD with a loss of two tanks... we then lose 8 tanks in a transport to a sub :grrr: ... but I take out the sub (barely) with my battleship. Arabs are down to 13 rifles, 35 infantry, and 2 cavs. Er, make that 9 and 34.

Turn 4 -- 1635 AD
I raze Damascus and split up the SoD.

Turn 5 -- 1640 AD
I raze Baghdad.

Turn 6 -- 1645 AD
I raze Kufah. We now have furs.
I raze Mecca. We could have more furs, but that'd be silly.

Turn 7 -- 1650 AD
I get a great leader killing a Swordsman that invaded the second continent! I rush Military Academy.
I raze Basra.

Turn 8 -- 1655 AD
Dammit, we lost our Furs colony...I should've built another one!
We raze Fustat, just built during the IT

Turn 9 -- 1660 AD
We raze Khurasan (sp?)

Turn 10 -- 1665 AD
Anjar falls. Medina is razed. Arabs are now an OCC.

Normally it'd be time to pass the game on ... but hell, I can't play MLDR4 for over a month...I'M FINISHING THIS BABY!!!!

Turn 11 -- 1670 AD
Ugh, only one landing spot on Cempoala...

Turn 12 -- 1675 AD
...and then they blow it by moving off a tile right next to Cempoala, and lookie here, I had 4 tanks waiting patiently in a transport...

Turn 13 -- 1680 AD
Assault on Cempoala...Great Leader on the first attack!

We have just enough tanks landed to take out the city ... the arabs are no more!

Here's the save:

Ugh, that was some sloppy play on my part, I tell you what. Probably my worst turn of the game...don't ask about the transports, please! Plus, I lost so many fur colonies, well, I don't know a witty way to finish that...let's just say I lost a lot! I'm not used to playing pure conquest with lots of darkness.

But it's over! We are victorious! Now, time for some MLDR4... :D

Now that I've thought about it...I should've done the following:
Load up the transports ... don't take the Arabian city. With all the mountains and forest, it would've been quicker to ferry troops around the island rather than to assault across ... hrm, maybe I'll replay it ;)

Great Job Everyone!!!!

This one was on Diety and we got them all! It is a testament to the skill of all of you. On to Conquests and hopefully Coffee can take a small break and join back up.

Yes, great game. A constant war variant on deity without ever using a representative gov, I think we did a good job, nothing much left in PTW for us :D

:goodjob: ChrTh on finishing it.
