MMS Game II: "Prepare for Glory!"

Had a look at the save. Its difficult to tell what your strategy is at the moment. You've got a reasonable number of axes, certainly enough to go through half of Shaka's empire and you're thinking about war. At the same time you're building two libraries and a monument which is not really preparing for another campaign. Library in Sparta makes sense given you're researching alphabet and you've got marble available. Monument in Corinth is arguable for border pop though arguably a granary would help more. Library in Athens however seems an odd choice. If you're turtling up it might have been better to knock up a settler to grab the site between Corinth and Paris. If you're going for war then garrison archers or spare axes would be better.

A library in the capital cannot be a bad thing when you're size 6 and growing fast, with a happy cap of 5:crazyeye: .
I'd recommand whipping catapults or elephants, if the tech was known, but it's not. Whipping phalanxes or axes is a bit tricky, when you have too many hammers.

No such thing as to many hammers :crazyeye:
Simply make sure you have some cottage, farms or coastal tiles to work instead of them mines... just prior to applying the :whipped:
It will help you grow back too ;)

yep, I know, but it's tricky nonetheless (in the sense that it requires a lot of MM) :
- when the previous build is done, you want no or very little overflow, first MM
- then you start a phalanx, you want a total of less than 5 hammers, second MM
- then you SHALL NOT FORGET TO WHIP, because if you forget you're screwed, third MM
I know how to do it, but I don't like it. It's too much of a hassle.

this is the HoF mod.
Doesn't change much to the gameplay, but gives some useful tools.
The exotic foreign advisor is really handy.

Ok thanks for the info!

:( I don't want to install it as I don't want to play HOF games and achieve the ruining of my social life ... OOOUUUUUUIIIINNNNN!!!!

:crazyeye:

Playing the round now, will post the update tomorrow. Some notes:
Shaka's cities on hills are heavily protected with archers -> only captured his capital to avoid losses.
Churchill is running away :( He founded 3 religions and had longbows even before AD.
Economical situations is absolutely terrible: 1) I sure don't know how to manage SE. 2) Happiness caps are terribly low (I'm going to beeline calendar and trade for monarchy later.
