[MOD] Fall from Heaven II

maybe i didn't explain myself clearly sorry

i'm talking about starting the game directly on the 3rd ERA for example, that means that all the civs have already the religion founding technologies (in the case of FFH, runes, fellowships and overlords) then, after playing several turns, holy cities appear on the map...

what i mean is that i always get fellowship of the leaves, never happened to get another religion, never happened to get any at all ... no matter which civ i'm playing... in vanilla happens kinda same with judaism but is not a big deal as the religions are actually the same so i guess it's a vanilla issue, so i was wondering if this could be made more random

That is interesting. Ive never looked at the algorithym that puts those out but Fellowship is the first one in the religion file so Im guessing it gives that to the first player (which is always the human) then so on.

I probably won't be rewriting vanilla code for it, though I know what you mean. The best I can do is recommend a 2nd era start instead of a 3rd.

I don't know if anyone else noticed, but sometime over the weekend FfH2 surpassed Rhye's 24 civ earthmap as the most downloaded file on civfanatics!

I think this calls for a party!

Where is the number of downloads recorded? (i really like knowing how popular i am)

If you look on the left hand column on the following age you can see the counter: http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=cat&id=1

I changed this page to point to that link after 0.15 came out, so thats a partial count of the amount of people who have downloaded 0.15. I didnt actually post it, Thunderfall did. I think he was testing out his new download pages (which is really cool).

And that of course doesnt count all of the downloads from mirror sites that are hosting FfH.

This may have been covered already, but The Tsunami spell kills entire cities, so an entire civ can be wiped out by a rogue archmage.

Also, I had the same problem someone had a few pages back... game wouldn't load and came up with a standard windows error message. Turns out I had version 1.51 of civ, whereas the latest patch is 1.61.

Also, noticed that Hippus Summoner has Air III. Is there any plans for air I and II spells? (Also, Creation and Metamagic spells?)

Tsunami is fixed in 0.16.

Yes. There are 21 planned spell spheres. Only 14 are implemented in "Light"

I like the music in the game but it's annoying when it suddenly cuts out to be replaced by hoof noises... Can you make it so that the music always plays? No one really needs the city background noises.

Great work

One thing I notice when I play so far is that the Ai doesn't seem to produce much arcane units nor use magic much? Is there a way to tweak the Ai to use magic a bit more or perhaps be a bit more varied in its use? I realize this is probably quite tricky getting it to work and be balanced.

Yeah, the AI does an okay job of casting its spells, but doesnt do a good job of maneuvering its spellcasters. Definitly room for improvement.

Well, I downloaded the latest mod of Fall From Heaven 2 - but I can't seem to get it to work. When I try to use the shortcut it says "The drive or network connection that the shortcut 'Fall from Heaven2.Ink' refers to is unavailable. Make sure that the disk is properly inserted or the network resource is available, and then try again." Do I need to move some files to another folder? The "read-me" file isn't very specific on how to install the mod to make it work. I have Civ 4 installed in the default directory, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Motion seconded, silence them crying babies!

As for the AI's use of arcane units, they build plenty of adepts and witch doctors, etc, in monarch and higher games, they just don't live for very long when they get used to attack my cities and such. They are not the most aggresive units in the Ai's arsenal, but maybe they can be persuaded to stay at home and study a bit longer..

I had the CD in the drive but it's still not working. Is there a detailed file on how to install the mod? Maybe I'm doing something wrong. (I still say the "read-me" file is a little lacking)

Hmm.. That is weird. If its int he default locations Civ4 should be in:

C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\

And the mod should install to:

C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Mods\Fall from Heaven 2 015

You're exactly right. Everything seems to be where it's supposed to be, (except it's Fall from Heaven 2 015k) but I keep getting that message when I try to use the shortcut. Do I need to do anything with the mod before I use the shortcut?

No, just run the exe. But I assume that has been done. If you load Civ4 normally, go into the advanced menu, and select load a mod can you load FfH from there?

No, when I load it normally the only mods that show up are the ones that came with the game. Your mod doesn't need the Warlords expansion to run does it? Should I try downloading it again? I really want to play it, but I'm starting to get frustrated.

is it in teh mods folder and is there one assets folders?... cause if not... thats the problem

My Civ4 Mods folder contains - One Assets folder - One Fall from Heaven 2 Shortcut - Fall from Heaven 2 015k Configuration Settings - FfH Editor - and the Readme file

The Assets folder contains - python folder - res folder - sounds folder - xml folder - CvGameCoreDLL.dll - and Pak0.FPK FPK File

Is that the way it's supposed to be?
