Yeah, you can just get to a computer with better connection to download it, then burn the installer to a cd or put it on an USB-stick to install it at home. I assume that's what you mean.

it turns out my actual download speed is 3kbps and it would take me 24 hours to download itwould it be possible to put the files on a disc then put it on my computer?
If you have a friend or family that has higher internet speed, you could download it over there, put it on a USB key and install it on your computer.

Under what circumstances would you want to research Armageddon? Does the AI go after it? I haven't seen it yet in any of my games.

In the current version it opens up a lot of big effects, like Apocylpse, Glory Everlasting and allows the building of Meshabber of Dis and the Mithril Golem.
The Armageddon tech has been removed in "Fire". Instead a minimum Armageddon Count is required to build those rituals/units or they are set off automatically when the counter gets to a certain point..

BTW, there is a new entry in the "Fire" developer diary (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=202889). This entry talks about some new mechanics for the Sheaim in "Fire".

Well, I have finally finished reading this entire forum (all 183 pages at present), and though I don't currently have a PC capable of running Civ IV once I do I will certainly download this Mod.
The design team's dedication and willingness to listen to and at times incorporate ideas from the masses is unsurpassed.
