[MOD] Fall from Heaven II

1st lemme say that I play ffh since the very first mod [civ2:ToT] and loved it from first sight ;)

I'm having a problem when I'm loading a game.
I was trying to load a first turn game [no next-turn pressed, no city map (only barbarian cities)] and it worked fine and loaded the game, however, when I try to load a second turn game [or greater] the game would apear to be loading the save file only untill the map loading process, then the screen goes black [I still have a working cursor] like it actually gonna load but I only seems to get an error related to the "msvcr71.dll" file and a CTD.
What am I doing wrong?
I have all the stuff installed, maybe I did it at the wrong order? I donno :sad:

Thats a pretty weird error. Msvcr71.dll is a microsoft library file. If its missing from your computer im not surprised you are having problems, though Im surprised normal BtS works for you.

I didn't say it's missing and I know it's a microsoft CRT file :)
It's safely resides in ..\Civil4\Beyond the Sword
What I get is an error =of= Msvcr71.dll not about it.
As I've said on my previous post I can only reload first turn games but not any others more advanced, any ideas?

BTW: I can start a game with 21 civ's [all civ's+extra calabim], I just can't load it if it's not the 1st turn savegame.

Well sorry for the lack of information, I was in the middle of typing a much larger post on this but the window acidently closed and im to pissed off to retype it all so here it goes.

Im playing a game (the save is on this post) and the turns are taking fc***ing forever to finish, I have a pretty damned good laptop. And I think the reason is because ljosafar has so many priests. Btw the game has never been this slow for me. Its the first time I have used a sandard map on ffh i usually do small. however i have never had problems on vanilla BTS.

So please tell me how fast or slow the turns take for you thanks.

Hey, first of all thanks to Kael for such a great mod.

The problem is, that with the latest version i keep getting crashes - the game has suddenly become really unstable - at points i can't advance 2/3 turns without a crash. I'm not 100% sure why, just wondered if this was a problem others had.

Anyway, i'm on the lowest graphic settings possible, with the minimum amount of programs running. The game settings i tend to use are a standard map with between 8 - 20 ai players at a normal speed; with the blessing, last days, and no settlers.

I have a feeling the crashes have something to do with the latter, and will test if you like.

I was trying to check the limits of the variants becaus I wanted to add content to the mod.

If you can remember I told you that the savegame loading bar got stuck on the "loading map" part or what ever the name tag was for that part of the loading, point is - it could not load the map.
the Msvcr71.dll error might be related becaus it's basically GFX stuff or it might not be related, I donno, I leave it to you wizerds ;)
I tryed to think what was I changing that related to the map in any way...
It seems that <iPlotRadius>0</iPlotRadius> of the Balseraphs palace can't be changed to <iPlotRadius>3</iPlotRadius>.
It made me wonder about building the "City of a Thousand Slums" wonder in the capital city of a "Sprawling" civilization like Kuriotates...

Everything is back to normal now :D

BTW:
1. I noticed that the guilds screen [ex corporations] doesn't show the right guilds names, maybe it's a glitch on my PC, I donno.
2. CoE religion suppose to be invisible, right? it's still visible on the negotiation screen, It shows left to the name of the leader your talking to.

Hey I need some advice, im playing a game with Khazad and want to know, what can I use guerilla for? I just cant think of any practical use for it at all, now woodsman I can understand, you get an attack bonus to, but for guerilla its just defence, however guerilla 2 gives double movement in hills which=2 movement for dwarves on hills.
Aside from that though I dont know what to use it for, I just cant recall a situation where having troops with guerilla would come in handy.
 
Kael is there an ETA on 0.32 yet? I'm pretty much looking forward to it; almost a month with no new versions! Guess it'll be a few weeks at best since you haven't released the changelog yet :(.

Hehe... yeah... us FFH players are used to being spoiled with new stuff happening to the mod all the time... although I'm wondering why so many ppl have problems with the latest version since mine is running smoothly...

No worries here either. Sometimes I wonder if the problems have more to do with hardware than FfH.
 
Sorry to repeat it as I know this topic has came up before. (I did a search of the thread) But I couldn't find any answers. Is espionage going to be brought into FfH2? I really wish we could see the power graph. I have bitten off more than I could chew in a few wars already. Hehe.

ANyways just curious. Kael & the rest of the team too large to mention all of - I am really enjoying the new upgrades. I just recently got the net back from a 5 month period. So this version was a real treat for me. :goodjob:
 
Kael has no intention to implement BtS-style espionage, but he is trying to bring back the power graphs without it.

The Council of Esus has some "espionage" abilities, like letting you see rival cities with the religion (I think this requires the holy shrine, working basically like it did before BtS) and having a unit (Shadow) that (when not HN) can enter cities and see their production.

I intend to eventually make a modmod implementing BtS style espionage, split up into Divination (basically the passive espionage, though divination points. Empyrean and OO would be really good at this, although you could do non-religious divination through the arcane line) and Subterfuge (Active espionage, probably costing gold instead of points, but still having the price increase based on the divination points of the rival. Esus would be great here)

I was also getting BSoD's every few turns playing standard maps, with the crash being caused by a lack of RAM. I have heaps of RAM. Kael once posted somewhere that Civ4 is terrible at memory management. I now play small maps, and havn't had a single crash in over a month. Playing small maps is annoying because religious victories are far too easy, but at least the game plays, and I just turn off religious victory.
 
So, I'm having a little bit of an issue. I recently started playing ffh again after about a six-month break. I never have, and still do not have any problems with stability or anything like that. The problem that I'm having now however pertains to the Ljosalfar. I started playing a game with them, and I can't build anything on forests, with the exception of roads of course. Is this a known error?
 
Are you sure you can't build there? The mouseover says that it requires clearing the forest, and that it will reduce the yields from doing so, but it does not. The elven improvements are not separate builds now, instead forests are just never cleared and the clearing tech is ignored if the civ is Ljosalfar or Svartalfar. For some reason, elves also have no tech prereqs for clearing jungles.

Unfortunately, the AI and automated workers goes by the info displayed in the mouseovers, and so don't take advantage of the improvements in forests ability.

(I assume you are using the latest BtS version.)
