[MOD] Fall from Heaven II

what exactly do you mean by "patches to FFH to Orbis" ? anyway, since they're two different mods patching FFH to a new version will not break Orbis, and viceversa. once you install them they are completely separated. BUT, when a new patch for Orbis comes out, pay attention to Ahwaric's intructions, sometimes you'll need to patch FFH first, then reinstall Orbis completely. when it's needed, he always tells people. another thing you need to watch out for: whenever you're playing a game with a mod, and the game you played right before it was with a different mod, you have to start a game with PLAY NOW! , as that will set options to default for the "new" mod. not doing this may cause any sort of issues arising. you don't need to actually play the PLAY NOW! game either, just starting it is well enough.

Duh... Well, I downloaded patch "d" for FfH 2.041 and proceeded to install it. I was immediately informed that it couldn't find version "2.041" anywhere on my computer. So I realized that I needed the full boat download for this version....

Upon trying it (using the link from the first post in this thread) and going through several web pages, I finally got a supposed REAL download message. HOWEVER, upon trying it I received an Internet error telling me that the page couldn't be found.

Does anyone have a valid link for this version to download? I could probably read through all the previous posts in this thread, but figured that this would be easier...

Thanks!!

I guess you need to be a "premium" user to with this site terribly well... While I've managed to start the download for part 2, the one for part 1 -- by the time I get the download button -- keeps telling me the download has expired and I need to restart it from scratch (each time waiting in excess of 2 minutes). This is the fourth time I've tried it and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it might work this time.

Do you have any other links for 2.041?

Thanks for the help.

P.S: Doesn't look like part 1 is going to go -- keeps telling me the download has expired. After four tries I'm giving up the ghost.

The page APPEARS to be trying to come up, but after 20 minutes nothing has been displayed on the page and no download has started. I'm just getting the circle that indicates that it is trying to connect. Could a couple of concurrent downloads cause this problem? I'm also in the process of downloading Fall Further and part2 of another download that was referenced to me (I don't have a clue why I'm not stopping this since I was unable to get part 1...).

What the heck are these -- new "mods" to BTS? "Fall Further", I assume, is based upon FfH2?

My problem is NOT that I don't pay attention to the posts, but that it takes freakin' forever to update my own version of FfH2 for all the changes I've made since I need to update virtually everything in the "Xml" folder (I'm only to suggestions on how to improve my retrofit capability so I can stay more current!!). My wife would freakin' kill me if I did away with any of her new wonders, buildings, resources, or units (she LOVES being able to train cheetahs, griffons, krakens, and sand lions -- never should have let her know that I could allow this...).

Have you tried setting them up as modules instead of modifications directly to the main XML? Should make your life a lot easier. Even though there are some things about modules which aren't so adequate outside of Fall Further and other mods which have incorporated World of Civilization's new methods.

Pursuing this just a bit further... I checked out tigers and they APPEAR (based upon the terrain type) to have the same parameters as gorillas (and my custom panthers). HOWEVER.. My scouts are frequently being killed by tigers and I keep encountering them fairly often. So why the difference between gorillas and tigers so far as frequency? (and, yes, I've played enough to see the difference over multiple games)

Thanks.

Not sure in that case. If both units have the exact same terrain and feature natives then any difference which remains is completley due to the random number generator being spotty. You also notice this behavior in some other areas where a "random" choice has a definite "favorite" which comes up too frequently.

Pretty sure Gorillas are as strong as tigers, or I would say they are just getting killed quicker, but I think tigers have more movement points, so that could also lead to you seeing them more often. Give Gorillas double movement in Jungle and they'll be more mobile in Jungle so you will find them more often in the jungle, but having more move in jungle means they are LESS likely to actually STAY in the jungle unfortunately.

By "modules", do you mean putting them in their own XML files? One of the problems that I might have is that I have modified some regular characters in FfH. For example, my wife (God love her!!!) insists that anything with wings should be able to fly (:crazyeye:). This means modifying characters like gargoyles, Brigit, and others (I draw the line with Hyborem!!!) within the base units file -- I think...

Gekko, I seem to be having a real problem with this site. Now I'm not getting as far as I did earlier today... Both the main link and yours appear to be referencing the "FileFront" link. Do you have any other sites from which this can be downloaded? I really want to take a look at the new FfH and its siblings, Fall Further and Orbis (they both APPEAR to require the 2.041 version).

Thanks!!

I just checked both files, they are there, after the wait time klick asap on the download button, the link expires if you wait too long after the download button pops up.
After download to circumvent the wait time after downloading, redial your internet connection, you need to get a new IP from your ISP, then you skip the waiting time between downloads.

unfortunately, that's the only version I know of... you can download FF though, since it does not need FFH to install.
When I try to bring it up, Civ 4 aborts with a fatal error message (i.e. BTS cannot continue due to an unknown error). I only downloaded the .051 version -- is there some updates to this that I need (it indicated that there were no patches to it).

Thanks.

P.S.: Not to get nosy and personal, but where is Vvardenfell?

I got "part 2" fully downloaded. But part 1, even though I DO click on the download immediately when it appears (after 135 seconds), it still tells me that the downloaded has expired.

Can you tell me what you mean by #2? I even restarted my computer between sessions thinking this might be the problem. I tried going into the Internet three times hoping that might solve the issue...

Thanks!! Hopefully I can get part 1 downloaded -- looking forward to .041 and the two "modmod" games.

wow this is like the best game i've ever played on FfH so far...

I'm playing as the ljolsvar (not sure how 2 spell it) and i'm on a peninsula. for some reason there's only one square i can use 2 get out of my little valley, and it goes into the lanun capital. The barbs take it, and my hunters take out the barbs. Now i'm left with a city in a bad defensible position, but i have 2 hunters, and that should be enough to stem the tide of lizardmen and skeletons for a while. the lanun have their backs against a wall of mountains and they're trapped in a valley. I have fellowship of leaves and i'm unwilling to take the lanun over at the current time, since i usually wait for them to declare war unless they get ashen veil. I've found out in a roundabout way that the clan of embers and kuriorates are also in the game.

any pro tips on how to keep this advantage?

Build more hunters.

For longer term:
1) research ether
2) make adepts
3) research elementalism
4) get fire node
5) slag bad guys with fireballs (this is desirable because elves can't build catapults). Fireballs also allow you to take down city defenses for when you fight the Lanun.

After you downloaded a file you have to wait before you can start the next download from rapidshare when you don´t have an account there.

When I click on the button after the wait time I get the prompt where to download the file, so everything is working for me, it would be nice if someone else could try it.
What you could try is to download it somewhere else and bring it home on a USB stick.

Thnx wodan. I didn't know about the no catapults downside. Anyway, I kept the lanun alive cuz i'm not that aggressive (and he only controlled a speck of land that i didn't even want anyway). So i expanded into the valley to the southeast and find nobody there. However, my finances take a nosedive as i grab too much land in not enough time. My units go on strike and i lose a few good units (including an order disciple unit. Order hadn't been founded yet ). Next i expand into the northern territory, where i encounter heavy resistance on the barbarian's part. My hero, gilven, gets killed and i quickly adopt the fellowship of leaves heroes. I take two cities after an unsuccessful attempt to start a town there. The lanun are my vassals, and i haven't gotten a fire node yet, although apart from a few barb cities i have little need for it. However i got emperian (not my state relig.) and got deis deis which gives me sun mana. I also got maelstrom on a few mages. At the moment, Yvain is bringing back gilven ('cuz yvain is the only one with life III)

What do u guys think is a good strategy to proceed?

Just a minor heads-up, the nothingland review from the op seems to have let its domain expire, remove the link perhaps so that people clicking on it don't get sent to a domain squatter?

I guess you're still on BTS 3.17?

FF 051 needs BTS to be patched to 3.19.

Vvardenfell is the setting of TES III: Morrowind
