[MOD] S.P.Q.R. beta version

True, unfortunately the Civforum is down. :( We are working to bring it back. (The original download link for full 0.2b should work again, but there are still things to do.)

@jojoweb: Thank you, I'm glad about any little coment. ;)

@Bema: Sure, feel free to post anything you stumble over within our texts. For some things we still need a proper translation (for that hero unit [original "Heroe"] for example).

@ohcrapitsnico: Since you wrote a PM with ingame things, I guess there is no longer any problem with extracting the file?

hi arne,

i post it in the civforum at the down-day:

tarant has no diplo-sound...

why the civs dont trade techs for peace? :D

greets

kalderus

PS: hab den MapTruncator in einer kleinen WYSIWYG-version für dich ;)...

I got it. And our Forum is running again.

I'll add a small minimap preview for Mediterranean Map here. I think, sometime next week it should be available for download.

Looks ready to be conquered Arne :)

Really looking forward to this map.

Great work on this Roman Era mod, Arne. Will any other civs be added in the future?

Nice. What size is the new map going to be? Hoping for a not-so-huge one... :)

It's 100x61 (hopefully I found the right size in our forum), this is between standard and large maps.

Standard size is 84x52.

@Drtad: Yes, like jok allready told, there are plans for additional Civs. For example ther will be Parthians one day, but I lost my Artwork files for them during that HD crash so it will take some time since I have to do this again. But for now, there are other things more important, we think.

@Drogear: Jok is right, actually this map is 100 x 61. But I think, there will be a smaller (and - may be - a bigger) sized map, when we move on.

I've played around with this map a few short test games, but run into some hard problems. So I think, we'll need a little longer then until this friday to make the map available for download.

Just wondering if there is any news on this new map?

(Apologies for the double post - but I wanted it to act like a *bump* aswell, to ensure it got some attention. :))

Hi, I realy enjoyed game playing as Hannibal (Italy map).
I noticed:
AI is very peaceful, I would like to see Roman and Pyrhus AI realy aggressive and warlike.
There is not any tech "farm spreads irrigation" and it would be nice if some techs give +hammers/food to improvements (workshop/watermill/windmill/farm), because I was just spamming cottages. I built farms only in food weak cities (or watermill because later with civic +1 food to watermill = farm).
Ships are too slow, they should be faster.
Changes in civic system would be nice too. (I have some ideas, so I can help with this)

It is very nice mod and I thank you for new game experience.

I wasn't online on this site for a week or so, and I couldn't do what I wanted to do for the mod. So I have to say sorry for that delay.

For now I'm thinking about relasing the map without that adressed problems solved. Well, not fully without that things solved, but the main things will stay. So thats the choice:
1. Relasing this map as soon as possible but also keeping in mind, there will still be some tweaks to do. So we could hope for suggestions from comunity.
2. Fixing this "things" the way WE like to do, and relase the map later on.

@Heav: Yes, there are some (well, some more...) things to do, but I'm not sure, if these things you suggested will be included. However, we will be glad about ideas and specifc suggestions.

I personaly don't think, faster ships will be a good idea. This is, becouse I don't like ancient(!) ships from opposing teams coming out from FoW, hunting my ship and then disappear in FoW. Ancient sea battles should be some sort of slow.
Any further opinions about this?

If you have any working ideas for the civic system, please let us know. Don't be afraid posting good ideas. ;)

This looks good. Btw you didn't ask but I can help you for translating the mod from English to French(or from French to English). If someone translate it to English or French there won't be any problem .

Keep the map & make the fixes you think you need to. If its not any good we'll just complain anyway :)

Keep up the good work guys.

Hi Arne,

Thanks for this mod. It seems well balanced, and that's quite a feat!
As a suggestion, I agree with Heav about adding improvements that will increase production (hammers), or upgrading improvements to produce more hammers on basis of a tech discovery.
This would help overcome that I think it takes a few turns too many to create city improvements. Tech discovery should definitely not go any faster. Rather, it should go slower in the middle of the game (haven't played a game to full end yet), so that you have the time to build the newly available units and improvements, and use them.

Oh besides, I'm playing this mod at normal speed as prince.
I use the Italy map, and I thinks it's very beautiful!

What I like especially about the mod is the difference between race specific units: differences are of a subtle kind, and you just need to think about how to take most advantage of them.

As a contribution, I could translate some civilopedia entries from German into English. (I guess, a translation into Dutch or Frisian is not very useful ;-) )

PS. I do not see any timber on the map, but it's specified as a resource. Did I overlook something?
