Hey guys, the mod tools are now available.

To get to them, go to the "Tools" tab in Steam (under Library) and look for "Sid Meier's Civilization V SDK"

If you don't see it, try restarting Steam.

ABOUT TIME

Just kidding, thanks for making it so fast :)

Is there any way to get save games to open in the world builder? The file type to open doesn't list save games as an option, and when I force it to view all files opening a save only brings up a black screen.

I'd be happy if I could somehow get a few of my in-game generated maps to transfer into the builder, I don't even care about anything related to game progress (cities, units, improvements, etc. - all I want is the map).

Its covered in the modders guide (page 72) with screen shots.

Figures that you guys would wait until the day I return to work from my "vacation" to release the mod tools. ;)

Very cool. And thanks for stopping by to post this.

Now if I only I didn't pick today as my day to get stuff done...

Thanks for the writeup Kael, that will certainly help in my one-man quest to have cruise-missile launching GDR's!

Not for a few months yet. But this should be plenty to hold us over; it is very powerful.

To Kael, since you seem to be around: Before I start digging through FFh files, would, say, a Fireball spell be coded in a similar way in Civ5 as it was in Civ4? (Ie a button that spawns a unit)

Edit: Guess not, since you'd need LUA.. bleh
