[mod] TOTAL REALISM 2.0

Heres a question on religion....
How is the % chance determined that a city that founded a religion loses itself as the holy city? I have been seeing this happen and I thought because the Religions 'holy shrine' had not been built there- that probably caused the loss of the holy city.
In the game Im playing now I founded taoism- I happened to get a great prophet -so i immediatley sent him to this city to build the shrine.. I figured I was safe now from losing the holy city(which was garnering me about 8 gold a turn toward the end there :P ) well about 20 turns later I lost it as the holy city for taoism!
Of course I started a war with my nearest neighbor because of it..lol.

My circumstances were that I had also founded zoastranism- and also had the holy shrine for it- This was also My civs religion- Im assuming that because Taoism was not my civs religion is why I lost it even though i built the Taoist holy shrine there...?
Is this correct? if it is ill use the great prophet for other things next time.

when religion of holy shrine (HS) is not state religion, HS is lost after 75 turns and after next 15 turn can respawn in other city. HS only remain, when religion is also state religion or player have free religion civic adopted

hmm....and you have sub in city? or in adjanced square? You must have sub directly in city, because missiles can't move
 
We badly need to work on a FAQ. It would be easier for people to follow. If we would find the time, maybe we should update the strategy (mouse rolling over the tech in tech tree etc) about the new features. It seems some bacis features such as religion or Slavery are still new to some people. We need to work on this.

I am off tomorrow to a Wedding in France. And no its not my own Wedding. :)
I will be back on Sunday. Hopefully I can fix few little bugs tonight and do the rest on Sunday/Monday.

Well, I don't know if anyone's interested, but I managed to get TR 2.1 working on my machine. I simply (!) deinstalled every CIV4 file, reinstalled CIV4, the 1.61 patch, TR 2.1, Warlords and Fall from Heaven 2 and it worked. The only thing that doesn't work are the national flags, I only get colors, no patterns. And the Zoroastrian holy shrine picture is pink. Any suggestions how to repair that?
By the way, Fall from Heaven 2 installs into a separate folder (since I use a German PC) and then I have to manually copy it into the mods folder - never had any trouble with that. Maybe that would be a solution for TR, too? Please bear in mind that I don't know the first thing about programming, so this is just a wild guess.

Total Realism installs itself in a seperate folder in the Mod directory. So there is no collision with any real Mod collection out there (Mediteranian Mod, Fall from Heaven etc). The problem makers are those little neaty mod components that people put into their Custom Asset folders.

If there is any file inside the custom asset folders, then those files replace the original civ files in every game. Neat idea but a killer for big mods. Because these files can also override our mod files, and you get all these troubles.

Custom Asset folder is our enemy Nr 1. Clean it of any files before you run Total Realism Mod.

Cool, stay cool.... Don't have a massive heart attack! ;)

When you says it work, all kind of Multiplayer work ? or only hotseat or cable ? Tell us please, just to know.

I only play hotseat. Don't know or care about the rest, and it would probably take a while to test. I've heard about Out of Sync errors in online games and mexico hasn't really confirmed whether it's been fixed or not.

The main problem I was having was the lack of a HUD. Clearing the custoim assets fixed that. Must have been some remnant from an inferior mod:lol:

I've been waiting to play a hotseat TR game for weeks, and to think if I'd only known about that I could have played it weeks ago.

Still need to wait on my cousin getting back from college though. About 3 hrs away. *sigh*

No one will trade techs with me. I can't even give them away...

I'm fairly sure I have technology they dont as Im in first place (I also used the city builder to give me a freebie on the wheel, as Im playing as england and need some advantage over the ai-I got practically no land!)

Is this a feature or a bug? (I have alphabet and writing)...
 
It's a feature. Instead, you get faster research if someone you have open borders with already has the tech you're researching.

I don't like it though. Are you guys (TR Team) trying to say that nations never exchanged technical data? That seems pretty farfetched.:confused:

Not attacking you or anything though. Still love the mod!:lol:

GREAT! YER ITS WORKING I HAD IT NEXT TO THE CITY TRYING TO REBASE THE MISSILES IN THE SUBS. THE HELICOPTERS WORK ONLY WITH RIFLEMAN, INFANTRY AND EARLY ERA TANKS. I REALLY THINK BEING ABLE TO LOAD MARINES AND COMMANDO'S ON THE CHOPPERS IS REALLY IMPORTANT. THE MACHINERY CHOPPER DOES NOT TRANSPORT POST MODERN UNITS SUCH AS MODERN ARMOUR OR IFV. PLEASE CAN YOU ALTER THIS.

They're already strength 8, more than any other melee unit at that time. It would not be a good idea, I think.

Besides, it would diminish the coolness of samurai, who do have a melee bonus.

I can't be sure, but I'm guessing that you are actually looking at the civ IV folder in your My Documents folder? The MODS folder in there IS empty. But you are in the wrong area if that is where you are looking. That is not where the game is installed. If you installed the game standard without changing the directory, then your game will be installed in the c:\program files\... I'm not sure, but perhaps firaxis\Civilzation IV.

And actually, I missed a folder in my previous post. It's in the Documentation folder, and inside there is the "inclusions" folder. The readme resides there.
 
i dont think i get this either.......delete cache before install or after??


i wish you guys would answer my simpleton questions not just the heavy stuff...

As already stated before Custom files do cause crash. Therefore Custom Asset folder has to be empty. What do you want to replace anyway? The German flag is the original one from Rolands Flag Mod.

Regarding cache, as already stated before as well - please read the posts carefully - you have to delete the cache before or after installing any sort of patch (doesn;t matter). Where you can find the cache folder is described in Post 3. If you don;t see the cache folder there, then you just have installed the game and there is no need to be worried about.
