[mod] TOTAL REALISM 2.0

I have found that my game crashes every time I start it up, but I found a fix -

If you delete the cache in Documents+Settings -> my games -> Civ 4, and then re-start your computer, you can then boot up otal Realism again without having to reinstall.

Furthermore, if you look in the Logifles, it seems to be having a problem with the Raze City commands.

Although the problems could be anywhere the highest likelyhood would be in the Raze City commands as well as the various artillery bombard changes. THese two areas are the most drastic changes from Vanilla Civ 4 (I noticed you used the nuke attributes to give your artillery bombard range against units). Thus the highest yield in bug-hunting would be there.

This is consistent with other users finding CTDs when bombarding with catapults.

OK, my first post in this thread.
First of all, I really enjoyed TR 2.0, it's really the game; I'm looking forward for the 2.1 CTD fix.
Then, a suggestion: in the "Welcome To Total Realism Forum" thread put more evidence on the link to the last TR release.
Last: great, great, great job you've done.

@ Houman

Well I Tried The Arabic Marine And It Didn't Work, Im Not Quite Sure About The Regular.

Added reply to slavary and 3 complicated ideas for diplomacy that might need explanation.

As for my diplomacy ideas, wont balme you for not reading it all :P. Freakin' Novel i wrote there :D
The point 3) is most importand for me and in my eyes the "Easiest" of em all.

@Burrito

Thanks for this info. We have 3 components in SDK, RazeCity, ReligionMod and RangedBombardments. Since only the latter one is new in this release and we experience the CTDs in this release, it is likely that this is causing the problem.

We would be trying our best to fix it. I have set all the Logfiles to enabled, and yet I do not see in any logfile that the Razecity or something has caused the problem. Where is this logfile located and how do I activate it?

Thanks

@ Houman

You think that range bombardment atrillery(catapult) can raze the city ? If it can it might be CTD. If it cant it may be AI trying that activates hidden CTD button :D

I also recived CTD right after my assassin (ninja ctually) activated him self in small city, 2 population. I played whith no autosave to see if them couse CTD.

Im thinking of "banning" artilary units, both IMCB, navy and land bombard and see if it will crash, but its too much for me to do whith unitinfo.XML whith no editor. You or any of TR team might make that file and send it to me, or just put a download link.

You know, I dont think that the new ranged bombardment adds much anyway. I kind of prefered the old method where you bombard to bring down city defenses, but to do collateral damage with your artillery you actually had to attack with it (a-la vanilla civ 4). I DO like your 50% withdrawl chance, but besides that, would you guys consider rolling the artillery back to the old rules? Besides, it seems to be causing way more problems than it is adding to any enjoyment, especially since the AI cant seem to react or use ranged bombardment effectively.

I would love a 2.1 version of your mod that included everything except the ranged bombardment changes. I really like all the personalized units and the differences between religions.

Unfortunatelly...this is something I was thinking about it as well. If we cannot kil the CTDs until the end of this week, we have to remove it. :sad:
BUt I was lucky to find this thread. I should have thought about it myself....http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=175005 I might be able to track the problems down tonight after work...

Meanwhile Burito, please tell me how you have discovered that RazeCity is throwing exception? I need to know a way debugging the SDk properly. Where do you see that?

Thanks

Would you be so kind to explain to a computer dummy how to delete the cache in Documents+Settings -> my games -> Civ 4. I can't seem to find a file calle cache.:confused:

Edit: Never mind, I found out what I was doing wrong. I have 3 users on the computer and I was looking in the all users file and not the user file where the game is played. Duh

Thanks

@bu ebabi
The current version is 2.1.1. I don't understand your question.

@All,

I have processed 50% of affected SDK files with the debugger log. I have to finish the rest tomorrow and run a test to see what causes the CTD. Imagine I had not to work or better say my work was civ modding, wow Warlords patch would have been finished for MOnday in that case. hehe

P.S. I was asking myself what I am actually doing here, 9 hours in the company programming C#, getting home eating something and relax for an hour then programming for 2 hours C++. This is sick...

Good night

So sorry for the trouble! I thought by posting an edit note yesterday right after asking the question it would let people know that I figured it out and was letting everyone know that my question had been answered. I was hoping that by posting that edit note that I would not be taking anyones time.:)

I think, that I'm not talking only on my own behalf, when saying, that we're all very pleased with your work in the TR-team.. And all though many have expressed a certain lack of patience, we do understand that you have to have some kind of life besides making the best MOD til CIVIV:D

So take your time! Better make it work instead of getting it out too soon...

I've enjoyed playing so much, and hope your Warlords-version will take the game to a new level!:D

Keep up the good work!:goodjob:

Hi all,

That's done !!! My first CTD !!!
I was playing as Malinese on TR Map. After a victorious fight with a skirmisher (8xp, Combat I and II) against a barb Huntsman (Combat I) : CTD ! :wallbash:
I don't know why it happened :dunno: . F---- CTD !:badcomp:

SO, if it also crash with my computer :badcomp: , only one solution: playing Warlords until it works ! :p
