I was just wondering, how many of you have actually played the origional civ3
(whichever type that you have) recently? I have not played for at least six months, I've only played one version or another of my mod which I call Gme (a typo that stuck).

How many of you play regular, your mod, of somebody elses mod?

Without exp. packs, there isn't much in the way of mods. I play unmodded.

By 'whichever type you have', I meant whichever version (regular, ptw, or c3c) you have.

I regard playing the unmodified game to be on par with having a root canal done without anesthetic, and despite being a dedicated Mac user, purchased a Windows box specifically to edit the Civilization 3 Complete game. I play my own mods, as I have discovered that sometimes Windows-based mods do not run properly on my Macs. I now enjoy playing the game. The only unmodified scenario in Civ3 Complete that I enjoy is the New World discovery one.

Sorry. I had a question here which you already answered, sorry for the post.

It's not actually too hard to mod the game in the editor in my opinion, if you want to do so.

If you consider raising the Optimal City Number to an almost unobtainable number modding, then yes, I play my own mod.

I play Conquest version, but that does not count as a mod, i think. I do have several graphic enchantments (Borders, irrigation, mines), but as they do not effect gameplay, I don't think these modifications go under "mod" meaning in this contents - they do not change anything besides what you see.

I do like scenarios (Zombies, king Arthur, etc.), But I do'nt play them often...

I either play my mod, which is basically rules tweaks, or RnR.

I've got a couple other mods I'm going to install when I get bored, but until then....

How many additional units are there in C3C? Whatever it is, subtract it from 327 and you have how many units I added to my mod.

I agree with Padma about the out-of-the box game, memorizing the normal game units is hard enough. Admittedly, some of the mods look pretty cool, but I'm yet to play any. I am interesting in some of the appearance mods and have tweaked things a little.

Edited: I do use some of the graphics mods. Does that count?

If it does, most of us are in the mod crowd. I use a slight appearance mod myself.

i'm pretty much an out-of-the-box guy myself. even the game options that i get on startup (victory conditions, accellerated production, and so on) i rarely change. sometimes i'm forced to adapt when playing multiplayer.

I said "original" but I do use my own custom-modded set of pop heads (to show what type of specialist they are - I find it very difficult to discern between Scientists and Tax Collectors on the F1 screen).

By 'unmodified' I meant by using the editor (or other means if you can:mad:), not just graphics. When you add your own units to your own mod it's easy to remember all of the units. ;)

I have mainly boosted resources yields, changed some of the building settings, like the Great Library never becomes obsolete, and worked on the combat data for the units, particularly the naval ones. I got very tired of having spearmen take out my tanks. I have only made one mod where I added a unit to Carthage, that being the already existing War Elephant. When I customize a map, I make sure that there are adequate supplies of all resources, and generally make sure that I have a good location to start. Basically, my focus is on producing something that I enjoy playing, and still find challenging.

I thought that a mod meant you were playing a Scenario or whatever the completed modpacks might be. I don't play those at all but I have modded some stuff in my game... mostly just graphics but not exclusively.

...which reminds me: I have a bunch of leaderheads I want to install.
