Modding Question: Disciple unit promotions

I'm toying with the concept of turning Radiant Guard into disciple units. Primarily because the Empyrean religion has no disciple units, (priests aside) and thus can't really benefit so well from Dies Dei or Altars of the Luonnotar.

But I'm running into a few oddities. Doing so, gives them a significant shortage of possible promotions. I was expecting them to gain acess to city defender, march, and Command, like priests and such, but those options don't seem to be there.

Is there something specific I have to do?

Also, I'd like them to retain the ability to use Master Smith equipment. Is there an easy way to do this?

Puzzling to me. Have they lost access to Melee promotions?

The easiest way I know of is to specifically clear them for the promotions via AllowPromotions in the UnitInfos file. Look to the Paladin in the most recent patch for an example.
 
Well, the Command promotions depend on having Channeling 2 or 3 , depending on the level. I'm not sure why they would be unable to get City Defender or March though.


Personally, I prefer to have Radiant Guards stay Melee but allow Ecclesiastics to upgrade to Radiant Guards. (My Radiant Guards also start with Guardsman.)
 
Aside form getting benefits from the disciple xp, I also wanted to make them more defensive. Priests can only learn City Attack I, not the full line. but they also get City Defender, so I though that would be well suited to the Radiant Guard,

Not really to fussed about command. That doesn't suit them anyways. The city defender is my main concern. Do priests have something to specifically allow that? Why would it not be working?


And I gave them guardsman too, yes. That's fun, and it suits them so well.
 
The promotion options that my Disciple Radiant Guard have available aqt lv1, are as follows

Combat I
Drill I
Guerilla

However, I've just realised that I don't have Warfare yet. That's why they can't use city Defender or City Raider. And I'm playing Elohim, after having found the Shrine of Sirona, so they start with Moility I, hence why that option is missing too. Please call me stupid in your next post.

Medic1, Combat3, or Tactics1, stupid. (I'm assuming that was an open invitation.)

This wouldn't help vis a vis the wonders, but you could use AllowPromotions and DenyPromotions to fully customize the the unit's allowed promotions.
