Guided Missile Nuclear Battle Cruiser? Amazing.

That fidget is pretty interesting, did you design that in cooperation with Ares because the sound fits perfectly.

Truly. :goodjob: What's this baby's provenance? (Deal? History?)

Long Beach was the first "all-new" cruiser designed and constructed after World War II
She was the third Navy ship named after the city of Long Beach, California, and the last ship built on a traditional "cruiser hull" in the US Navy; all subsequent cruisers were built on scaled-up destroyer hulls. This led to the slogan she carried in her later years: "The Only Real Cruiser."

In May 1964, Long Beach joined the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise (CVN-65) and the guided missile frigate USS Bainbridge (DLGN-25) to form the all-nuclear-powered Task Force 1. At the end of July, the three warships began Operation Sea Orbit, a two-month unrefueled cruise around the world. It was the first all-nuclear battle formation in the history of naval operations.

If memory serves me correct I seem to remember that the Navy had plans to upgrade the Long Beach along the lines of the unit that Wyrm created sometime in the late 70s, though not quite as impressive as the unit Wyrm created, as a sort of prototype Strike Cruiser. Unfortunately the upgrade along with the proposed line of strike cruisers was cancelled as well as the the 8inch Mark 71 gun that Wyrm so marvelously and accurately rendered for this unit.

Wyrm, I gotta ask did you create the Mark 71 from complete scratch? You really did a bang up job on it. It's a damn shame the Navy cancelled it, it would have been a wonderful bit of kit as our cousins across the pond would say.

Yes I did. I found a blueprint of it and it really was a simple matter. Just a truncated cone, cut out a hole, add the back flange and then the barrel is just a cylinder. Only ship to test that thing was an old destroyer. Almost blew itself off the mounting from the recoil.

Very very nice, Wyrm! Splendid modelling and animating, as always! A very nice upgrade path we now have!

First update in a LOOOOOOONG time. 1st post has two Eastern DDG's posted.

Wonderful! :):goodjob::clap:

Edited: It seems in all SE-animations, but the run-animation, of the Chinese plan haizhou class , there is a small graphical glitch:

With the Sovremnny class it seems all is o.k.

Yes, Flicster does that.

Yes, Flicster does that.

As far as I know, this happens (randomly) only if frame size in Flicster is greater than 200x200.
According to Vuldacon, this can be fixed by manually editing storyboards. Add 2 or three pixels of the Lightest Smoke or Shadow Shade in front of the area that wants to Rip (On the Left Side of the Images) on the Storyboard before generating the Flc. I tried this and it works.

I've had this happen on frames less than 200x200 as well. It's very weird. I've never had it happen on an infantry unit but when I made those planes a while back it became very prevalent for some reason. :(
