Modified Scenarios Workshop

No need to panic. We are not at Andromeda Strain levels of doom yet.

I find ignoring news media is a good idea at times like this.

Hi Curt, I do not know if I was too schematic ... it is not the end of time (I hope), but it is a dangerous time, when an illness can saturate public health services, to have to go to the hospital (due to an accident or any other question).
I tell you from experience that since the economic crisis, with its social cuts and privatizations, there have not been enough hospital beds, or ambulances, or respirators ... already in a "normal" way. In a situation like Madrid and the rest of Spain are living, with the intensive care units and the emergency services saturated, it is not uncommon that more than 1000 people have already died directly from the Covid-19 (in just over a week). We are not informed of those who are dying from inattention.
Hence, taking precautions and taking care of yourself. And fight for our social rights, which for the majority represents our survival in bad times.
When there is a galactic catastrophe, little can be done .
But the media went from exaggerating to the end of time the Covid-19 when it was in China, to mocking when it started in Europe and saying that washing your hands or with paracetamol was enough. I hope that Italy and Spain are examples of what should not be done in a health crisis.

I for one, am not giving in to the news media fear. You are quite welcome to meltdown as you see fit.

I hate to add to a thread jack, but panic is not the issue. Denial is. There are now over 11,000 deaths world wide, and things are just getting started. Taking this seriously is not giving in to media fear. By all means, be skeptical about media sensationalism, but listen to the public health experts. This is very serious, and we all have a responsibility to take action to protect ourselves and others.

Also, simple pathology and virology say that these highly contagious viruses always go into dormancy eventually, often with a seasonal change (Northern Hemisphere summer, maybe?), and never wipe out their entire host species, unless the host species is very small in a tiny, geographically isolated area. Viruses have survival mechanisms and instincts, which maybe what saves us. The same happened with the pig flu, the chicken flu, SARS, Ebola outbreaks, the Spanish flu - Hell, the Bubonic Plague. We just need to ride out the storm.

Like Tech said, it's best to listen to doctors and official experts, and not irresponsible journalists who are relishing the fear spreading alongside the virus.

:yup: We totally agree. The War on Corona is over before it begins.

With the quarantine I hope to include the scenarios converted to ToT that I still had to add.

Hi, guys. I guess there does exist a Civ1-mod for Civ2. Do you know where to download it?

And... I remember there was a website gathering only the coolest and quite modern scenarios. It was in English, each scenario was presented with a small unit out of its unit.gif. I guess the background was white, if I'm not mistaken. Does anybody what I am talking about and where to find that one?

"Casus Belli: Magna Bellum Borealis 1700-1721" by Vegard Bjørketun. Version by me of Catfish ToT conversion. More Fairline units.
Last modification with the unit provided by Fairline of the transport ship and an unit that was missing to go to none.
I hope you like it

I've checked a couple of books I have by the Funckens called the Lace Wars, which is a detailed study of the uniforms of the 1700s. It states that uhlans / ulans were originally Polish-Lithuanian tatar cavalty; official regiments of uhlans were incorporated into the Polish-Saxon army in the 1720s and spread to neighbouring countries in the 1740s. Prussia had a regiment in 1740 and Austria not until the 1770s, so the use of the Lancers in this scenario is probably erroneous. I wouldn't worry about it too much though :)
