Does that mean I can spam freely in the OT section of a certain concollegue site now. ;)

Nahhh... I have mulitple windows open, and only one is on this site ;)

Like Gonz said, any mod can ban anyone if they see they're the only mod on. :) Plus, I've been to the Civ2 Demogame forum, and that one can almost run on autopilot. The Civ3 Demogame is a different story... ;)

Where ther is a situation of serious disruption ar black letter serious violation, any one on had can ban the malefactor, send messages, and let the approriate moderators sort it out later.

In any case Thunderfall agrees with Ming and AoA about the risk of having too many moderators, and only adds them when he percieves a significant need. He is not of the more is better opinion. I like the idea of move timezone coverage in the collosium, but I do not see a real problem with the current setup, and I doubt the need here rises to level that will motivate Thunderfall

I'd like to see eyrei and Shaitan replaced by someone who actually posts in the Civ 2 Democracy Game forum, do they even go there?... Duke of Marlbrough does a great job though. As for Off Topic, AOA seems to be doing a good job, I don't know if he is struggling though...

Eyrei, Shaitan, and Duke are also mods in the Civ3 Demogame and Eyrei and Shaitan mainly take care of that. My understanding is that duke likes the Civ2 demogame alot so mainly eyrei and shaitan are the Civ3 Demogame mods and duke is the Civ2 demogame mod.

HEY! Didn't we already discuss the whole sheep thing!!!!!

As for the thread topic: Yes, a poster could come in and post several off topic posts, the problem w/this is that ANY mod can ban, if I noticed neither lefty or aoa was on and saw someone racking up spam all over the OT I would ban their @$$es in less than a second. Most posters are pretty good about staying w/in the boundaries and if someone goes too far out of bounds someone will report them. I think lefty and aoa can definately do the job, even w/the time zone similarities. Of course, TF also works late hours, and can take care of any problems :)

Civ3 also works out pretty good. Me and hippo are on similar schedules but we just get the job done. There will be stretches that I will do more work and think he's dissappeared and then streches where I notice he's taken care of everything before I even get there!

Also, If we get anyone else in the staff forum, I'll have to vomit!

And I'd also like to add to lefty and aoa's point that adding a new mod has great potential to add modding conflicts, which is never a good thing.

I think the mods are afraid of sharing their mod powers... Oh well back to the topic:

I think that most of the mods here are smart enough to get along and get the job done even if they do hate each other. Mod conflicts would be rare and even if one do happens I would believe TF would make sure a fitting punishment is formed. If the mods start getting into conflicts then I believe that shows they are unable to do the job and should be replaced.

Also more mods are always better :)

what happened to duke he is no longer a mod in the civ3 demogame not that eyrei and shaitan arnt doing a good job

Some reason or another?

We don't have more because we don't need more, although I understand some sites have a 1 mod to 2 posters ratio of moderation.

I'll put it this way: Imagine having 4 dads(it's hypothetical!) and each one has a different parenting style. Can you imagine the fights that would ensue!??

Duke and I feel eyrei and Shaitan can handle the demo game forum moderations themselves... :)

As for additional moderator, I don't think it's needed at the moment. We usually have at least 1 moderator online at anytime...

Gonzo.... you ignored the rest of my post:

Nah, i saw it, the only problem is, as i stated, the conflicts are absolutely inevitable. It's happened in the past and fortunately, we've been able to divide up the moderation in a way that has left us virtually conflict free for several mos. Changing that would be screweing w/the balance we've created and the balance is not an easy thing to get back. As it is now(and to make another analogie) the moderators can happily dance together w/out stepping all over each other's toes, mods of some forums do the tango, and others do the waltz...if you throw in someone who dances unlike the others...toes will be stepped on and people will eventually trip and fall.

Note; The moderators are not really dancing and suggesting so may earn you a top slot on the list of fesces(the #$#% list)

Europe is only about 6 hours offset from USA, if we want to spread out the moderators in time (and might as well flip the season also) we should go to the antipodes, and get someone like Simon Darkshade.

Now there is a great idea! :D  Maybe if there ever was a sub forum for Battleships and the Films of Elijah Wood, but otherwise, I can't really see it happening.
I am content with my current status of FBI agent observing the board for subversive content...Darn! There goes my faulty internal monologue again!

 :D

You don't expect me to use expensive shots on you, do you? :p

As for how your name came up, it either wouldn't be funny with someone else, or would be too true to be acceptable. Wouldn't be much of a laugh if I said they spent their time keeping that wild AVN and Hitro from flaming up the board, or going on a spam fest. It would be too personal if I used the names of people who are guilty of those offenses. You however fall inbetween and get the duel bonus of being a funny choice without being offensive.

Looses a little when you have to explain it. ;)

Right, I know a site that begins with G and ends with R... ;)

Makes you wonder if they have 1 admin to every 2 mods.
