Moff Jerjerrod's WW2 Global - Reloaded

jiikoo, you tried to help other civers with their wishes of reuploading lost scenarios and mods, what normally is a good thing. This said, in my eyes the borders here must be the expressed will of the creators of those mods and scenarios that they don´t want them to be longer available. You were informed about this by me in several posts and in another post by Meteor Man. Despite this you have posted now this reupload-link at CFC.

I have reported this post and we will see what happens. In my eyes with doing such actions against the expressed will of the modder, you are treating us modders in a way I don´t post here, but used that term when reporting your post. We will see what will happen. One thing is sure. If this behaviour at CFC should be correct, it will have influence on my future postings at CFC.

Something doesn't need a copyright notice to be copyright. Anything you create is your own copyright, automatically.

In any case, as has been said, we don't post material that the creator has removed unless the creator allows it, just as site policy.

Hello all,

By some strange chance I decided to check in on Civfanatics, a forum I have not visited in a long long time. I used to frequent the forums here quite a lot and have put too many hours into Civilization then I care to admit. I'm happy though that there is some interest in this mod I created a long time ago. Back when I removed my work from this site I was indeed angry. I was angry that after putting in such long hours into making my scenarios that they were not well received as I had hoped for. That attitude, I realize today after doing some let's say growing up, was wrong on my part. I sincerely apologize to anyone that I hurt with my actions.

I wish I could restore my work here but unfortunately the computer that stored my WW2 scenario crashed without me ever having backed up my work. If anyone here still has this scenario please go ahead and re-upload. If anything it would allow me to download and archive it to my system. I could even put some work into it in order to modernize the scenario a bit now that there are many more units that have been added since my departure.

The good news is that I still have my WW1 mod [La Grande Guerre]. I even had dug it up out of storage and worked on it last year trying to make it better. I may even re-release that scenario if there is an interest and I can motivate myself to polish it up a bit more.

In closing let me apologize once again for my actions when I was younger and dumber than today.

Civinator and Plotinus,

Thank you for respecting me during my absence and protecting my wishes. You have earned my respect for modding these forums.

To jiikoo, Anthony Boscia, and everyone else who supported me I want to thank you for your kindness. :)

Moff, it´s great that you are here again. :)

Sometime ago I have downloaded your WW 2 scenario via the archive thread in the old CFC forum structure. For a reason I don´t know why, I not only received your scenario, but also a file containing the original full text of all the posts you have deleted and overwritten.

If you send me a PM with your current email adress, I will try to send you not only your scenario so you are able to reupload it at CFC, but also the file that will help you to restore all your deleted posts, if you want this.

Hello Civinator! Good to see you again. I hope to visit here a little more often now. ;)

That is great news indeed you have! I will PM you my current email address. I will go through the files and see what I can restore and perhaps even update. :)

The mails are sent and I hope all is working well.:)

I'm happy to report that almost all is working well! The only thing that seems to have some issues is the music soundtrack. For now if I disable the music soundtrack (i.e. Music.txt) the scenario works fine. Fixing the soundtrack won't be my priority for now as I want to first concentrate on freshening up the units. There is a lot of work to be done thanks to all the active unit creators here.

Lionic! How are you? No apologies needed my friend. I remember your kind words and that was enough for me.

In the original download the music text file was outside the textfolder.

Interesting. I left the Music text file inside the Text folder and was able to run with the music for this scenario. The game however froze when the the Marseilles (French National Anthem) started playing. There could be something wrong with that mp3.

In any case changing the name of the Music.txt to oldMusic.txt disabled the soundtrack and the game runs fine. I was even able to use a utility I found on this forum that enabled me to play hotseat with all the nations in this scenario!

Moff, it's great to see you back and that you got a copy of your scenario again. With the work that gwendoline and Delta Strife have done, there are dozens more units available to fill the gaps for all the nations. It would be good to see if the terrain set can be corrected as well because I think the color palette in that set is unique and very well done.

The good news is that I still have my WW1 mod [La Grande Guerre]. I even had dug it up out of storage and worked on it last year trying to make it better. I may even re-release that scenario if there is an interest and I can motivate myself to polish it up a bit more.

Hey Anthony good to see you too! Love the gif! Very appropriate.

I noticed there are a ton of units that gwendoline and Delta Strife have worked on and I have already included some in version 3.0 of my scenario. They look great and I will need to add more. I'll try to work on the terrain set as well and I will need to refresh myself with using gimp. Some of the unit pcx's need correcting too.

Thanks Vuldacon! Good to be back.

Just a quick update on what I've done in the past week. I've freshened up about 10 units with updated versions I've found from Gwendolyn, Anthony Boscia, Imperator, and a few others. There is a lot more units to update thanks to the hard work of the creators here!

I've also noticed a bug that needs fixing. Right now if you try to press F2 to get to the resources screen the game freezes causing the user to execute the three finger salute to exit. Not sure why this is happening but I did notice that Japan has no access to aluminum and that means they can't make any aircraft. Not sure if this has anything to do with the bug.

Moff... The F2 Problem does sound like it is a resource situation.
Hypertext Overflow... Maybe too many of one type resource such as aluminum but just because Japan does not have access to aluminum in game should not cause a crash. Like any Civ, they would have to try to gain the resource they want.

cool to see your return. I'm sure to have downloaded and played this mod when it was active i think it was built upon WW2 Global gold which was also based off of rocoteh's ww2 mod? Getting old now its hard to remember exactly

Hi Narn,

Thanks it's good to be back. You are correct in that this scenario is based off of rocoteh's ww2 global mod. But it does have a few differences from his original work.
