Monarch HOF Try

you will be better i think. good luck.(but i dont believe luck, the important thing is destiny):):):)

I'm bored so take time off from playing this game to review top scoring games. I noticed in a couple of the Monarch games that the players managed to hand build the Pyramid before 1000 BC. In this game I popped a settler in 3450 BC and could have built the Pyramid by around 1325 BC. How come none of the top players pointed this out to me, is this one of the many secrets of getting a great start? By a great start I mean by 10 AD. The Pyramid build near 1000 BC wont have much effect for the start out to 1000 BC.

if you want to get a high point you must get the world as quick as possible.an example for you i am now playing an emperor game .i played it once and playing now again.i statted from 970 AD .it is before my second attack.in this game i get the world 10 turns earlier (1120AD my domination limit).and year 1220 AD i hane 600 more points and 2 more points per turn.this is a very big change.if you this like that i think you get the monarchy highest point.good luck again.:):):)

I agree fret. I also mentioned this to him in another thread where he's also posted about that game...

i know , i know and i know.i am trying which way is better.iam triying to find which way i have to play.and again how can you understand the difference between a loaded game and original game.it is nearly impossible because you dont play to change anything you begin to play it from a save game.i know it is not allowed but maybe the player who play the game pretend that the game was crashed.and i think you have no idea that this guy load that game and play it again again and again.the player sends only just two saves at the beginning and at the end.

Jeez A_Turkish_Guy you really dont get it do you.

Do you really think the top scores in the HoF were achieved by cheating?

If there was a huge cash prize up for grabs then I might cheat for it. All I (and most of the other people here) want to do is see how well we stack up against other good & honest players.

I has taken me since the day the bleeding game was released to get to a level where I can get within 15 or 20% of the top scoring player on Monarch, thats satisfaction that is mate. I could have beat Emans score 18 months ago if I wanted but what would that prove, that I am a cheat perhaps?

Playing and replaying and cheating and replaying and reloading and replaying and cheating and going back to previous save and reloading and saving and cheating and loading and cheating and going back to previous save and reloading and saving and cheating and loading and replaying and cheating and replaying and reloading and replaying and cheating and going back to previous save and reloading and saving and cheating and loading and cheating and going back to previous save and reloading and saving and cheating and loading and YEAH, I BEAT THE TOP SCORE is about as much fun as it was for you to read this paragraph, its no fun for the player, its no measure of skill or ability, its nothing Turkish Guy, nothing.

One day, after Eman and a few others have moved on to play Civ 4, I might just be in a position to challenge for the top score and beat it, and on that day chum, I'll be the happiest man on the planet.

i think reloading is not a cheat.and nobody tell me that scores in HoF have no reloding games.and if tell me that there is no loading i dont beleive that.
and if a good player played a game(but good player) , this game nearly nothing to change.yes there is a little change that the game will better but i dont think it is a cheat.(the rules say it is a cheat and i really accept that because of the rules.but i still thinking it is not a cheat.)
and i am not taking about loading the game 20 times.it is just 1 or 2 times.andyear is not important.

Enjoy your life Turkish Guy, and the satisfaction your achievments bring you.

I also used to do all-reload games, but I respect the rules here.
It's a shame that firaxis don't supply an adequet mechanism to check their SAV files, so we can have a peaceful community.

I'm still doing all my submissions fully rules-qualified (I only changed the borders graphics), but I also have a friend that laughs at me for not cheating..

SAV files must be checked as best possible, but not all is possible, and this is the door, here is the key, don't open..

I'm sure I can be beaten this way in tiny and small.
I'm not sure y I'm doing this.

Could a player claim their game crashed to get away with reloading? Sure, a few times, maybe, but then we'd get suspicious I think. Can you reload after accidentally hitting the domination limit? Sure, but you should never have to considering there's versions of MapStat for III, PTW and C3C.

The only kind of general reloading allowed in the HOF is called "Ctrl-Shift-Q"...It reloads the game, just not quite the same game...

I hate Ctrl-Shift-Q !
It aches more than ctrl-alt-del (in the hand)

Ctrl-Shift-Q isn't so bad for anymore. My left hand did it several thousand times before Moonsinger and Dianthus brought some light to my life.

I think we've all jacked Svar's thread far enough...;)

There's no denying that the Pyramids can be a real boost to score, and maybe even expansion after you escape despotism. Whether or not it's a "secret" to a great start has been debated.

Personally, I find the Pyramids to be a crutch I have yet to ween myself off of. Having that particular wonder has carried me into great games. As a matter of fact, all of my HOF games have the Pyramids in common.

On the other hand, there are players that don't build them (or even get the chance to due to level) and outpace my expansion anyway.

i dont get it superslug. is that mean if a press Shift- control- Q ,can begin from a save game or what???Shift- control- Q is start a new game i think.back to the main menu.and you can start a new game.
and you saye few times re loading.i dont get it too.my games are continue at least 65 hours.and it is my best time.it means if a play that game for 1,5 hours per day i have to reload 45 times minimum.and (it is my best time ).if my mother says something i have to shut it down(she hates pc games she always says you are killig your time).and it happens maybe 10 times in 45 day periyod.and at least the game crashes 5 times.and there is power loss sometimes.maybe 10 times .(maybe it is strange for most of the people lives in Europe but it is still in our lives in Turkiye).and 3 times for domination limit:):):):).
if we count that (i am good at counting .i am an elektric and electronic engineer.)45+10+5+3=63
that is the time i reaload the game.:)
and the big question for all of you.how can you know that the player make the reload e few turns earlier each time.?(it is forbidden that chance things for game as you say.)
if the player is good enough he can play the game and finish it and start where ever he wants again.
and you never know that he plays 250 turns earlier.it is impossible to understand that it is his first play or more.(1,2,3...)
and it is in the rules that you cant control this.it is a big problem i think.

Change the record dude, i think we understand your position:crazyeye:

I'm sorry TurkishGuy, I should have been more specific as Ctrl-Shift-Q does reload the game from scratch (LEGAL) not from a save (NOT LEGAL).

Now can we please stop threadjacking this thread?! Maybe even the entire forum?!

.....I wanted to weigh in on A_Turkish_Guy's and other comments.

1. If you reload the game after a normal exit and before playing additional turns, you ARE reloading the game.......but this is NORMAL reloading..............REPLAYING turns is not allowed.

2. If the game CRASHES or you accidentally exceed the Domination Limit, you are allowed to reload.
It's important to note that AN INDICATOR is set when this happens and Aeson will know that the game has been reloaded.....You may be asked to explain why the indicator(s) is set!
I have documented in my current game's .txt file when the game crashes/power goes out (common in Mexico) or I exceeded the Dom. Limit.

3. There is an implication that the top scores were cheated.......I doubt it very much.....you only have to read the threads of players like Moonsinger, SirPleb, DaveMcW, boogaboo(!), superslug, Darkness et al to realize that these people are players of HONOR!.......AND are highly-skilled!

My Monarch-level #1 game was very lucky because:
A. I picked Raging Barbarians.....something I wouldn't do again
B. I was attacked by barbarian units (from a Goody Hut) and got to Elite.....Then I attacked an AI civ's unit because it was close to my civ escorting a settler (I was elite; AI was regular) and got a Great Leader and thus early Pyramids...........VERY LUCKY! ;)

I do agree with you on one area ATG. It would be nice if the game was more cheat-proof.................HOWEVER, remember that little indicator that tells the Administrator (Aeson) you have had a questionable reload!
If Honor goes out the window, the HOF has a fall-back position:
Reloads from Game Crashes & Dom Limit Excess will be disallowed AND ONLY games with the "indicator" OFF will be allowed.

I HOPE IT DOESN'T COME TO THAT!! :)

and ok. i ask one thing and i will never ansver it again.in the game you are not allowed load a game but if you do Ctrl-Shift-Q and the game goes back to main menu and you reload the game ;it is legal.what is the diffence between them??.maybe autosaves will clean.anythingelse??
and EMan says there is an indicator.if i played from the beginning that indicator never realize that i play the same game because i start it from the beginning.and i think that indicator will just look the last save file.(2050AD).and check for illegal saves.but never thinks that is the same game.that is my problem.
i never think thatMoonsinger, SirPleb, DaveMcW, boogaboo(!), superslug, Darkness are not players of HONOR.i really think that they are very good players(except boogaboo :):):) )
and why doesnt Aeson say some thing about that??
if you answer questions i will never post anything
