[NFP] Monopolies and Corporations Game Mode Discussion Thread

I was thinking something similar to seasteads.
Me too! I was thinking it'd be something seastead-esque, though another idea i had was if they placed the building on a tiny island with a tiny dock with shipping boats. I was thinking the island could either be something like a artificially made island, or just a tiny island that was always there but was never big/ significant enough to be represented by an entire hex of land on the game map.

5 industries by T70 and 2 truffles just settled... this is getting crazy

I imagine it was kind of a strange challenge for the graphics, because after the actual cooperate headquarters or whatever aren't going to be out at sea.

The mass-settling type civs would really enjoy this new gamemode.

I am not sure "Enjoy" is the word I would use, I would probably quit now if I did not want to see corporations and also the monopolistic qualities of this

It was complicated. Seasteads might be to futuristic, but I was hoping for some sort of factory ship, with maybe some yatches around for corporation. Kepping just the boats is meh... add this to sea resources being anti-monopolistic, and you see this mode is only land-based.

They could had at least used Liang's fishery graphic...

Yeah seasteads would be too futuristic at least for the industry probably. I was hoping for something like the fishery as the industry and maybe at least it could have a building on it later or I like your idea of yachts.

I think it's because you destroyed the Plantation which gave extra Gold.
Makes sense - the industry is listed as an improvement, and camps/plantations/etc are an improvement, and you can't have two improvements on the same tile. This has a couple of ramifications: a.) industries/corporations on mined luxury improvements shouldn't have a negative appeal hit anymore, which could have a considerable impact on another new feature- the preserve district. b.) it's actually a bit of a detriment to Gran Columbia, the plantation pantheon, the mined luxury pantheon, etc. Though the pros far outweigh the cons.

@Victoria thanks for the post with the civilopedia entry about industries and corporations. My question is are you limited to a flat one corporation per city, one corporation per resource type per city, and/or one corporation per resource type in an empire? Does a corporation on a resource type affect the yields of other resources of the same type in that city, or elsewhere in the empire? I also noted that I didn't see anything about tiles with industries and corporations can't be swapped between cities, so maybe you can circumvent this limitation?

a flat one corporation per city
One industry per city so I imagine 1 corp but still getting to economics.... basically you need science and markets so it gets tough for early other victories... I am in no rush so have theaters and harbors etc as well.
I imagine I can remove an industry from one city with a builder and build it in another but it’s all about getting to corporations. No need to move them, just move their relics I imagine.
No other yields affected, just 1 lux of that type... but man it makes a difference... I mean Kupe already has a head start but it’s just crazy
I have 7 merchants and 7 industries at the moment, some at 100% I think

I have not got spice yet, 5 turns till economics

Interesting pic of the list of your luxuries. I also notice that it tells you how many of a resource you control, such as 3/5. This makes me ask: how much of the total map have you uncovered? I'm wondering if the total # of a resource is based on the total map OR if it's only the part you've uncovered. If it's based on the total map, this would make for an alternative way to determine how many of a resource is available without needing to use the Lens or Search function if you didn't need to know where the resource is yet.

I am Maori... everything is uncovered. I do think it is tyhe total map but cannot be sure.
Posted enough for one night

im noticing the AI isn't building improvements on any more than one luxury, this has made it so you are the only one making industries and monopolies. can anyone else confirm this , im noting it in screenshots on this thread and live streams but not a lot of talk on it yet
