Montezuma

I HATE MANSA MUSA:mad: he opened borders to me and then brings his armored infantry on Memphis (Playing as Egypt) and i lose it!!
then he wants fission from me!!! i thought to myself "I AM NOT GIVING ICBMS TO HIM"
he heafeated me though, but i was really mad!!!

Your game must've gone terrible wrong if Mansa Musa manages to defeat you militarily... Despite being a powerful techer, he usually has a pathetic military. In contrast, Shaka and Monty are often extremely dangerous even if somewhat under-teched and half-defeated.

Gets scary if one of them ever voluntarily vassalage's to Mansa for 10 turns D:

poor izzy... gangb****d by the evil dudes :(
Izzy can be quite formidable...sometimes.

I ended up abandoning that game in the Industrial ages, but I did manage to cripple Monty early on, and in the Renaissance he was crushed by Shaka but other than that it was an absolute Free For All

I founded Confucianism but Isabella founded Hinduism, so I decided to atleast get one Ally and converted to Hinduism, it went well enough for me to branch out in colonies(finally snagged me some Iron in a colony, but by then I had a sizeable defense force of Muskets). I pretty much abandoned it by time I could explore, as I found that most of the world had teched much farther than all of us combined.

The nice thing about most of the aggressive leaders is they are so busy warmongering that they don't advance very fast, so they are easy to beat up if you can avoid war with them til you're ready

why does everyone forget alexander?

Not everyone does. I for example know that he's every bit as dangerous as monty most of the time...and that shaka is far worse than either.

Probably even more forgotten are guys like Bismark, who have only 5 less unitprob than alex/monty/GK but also declare @ pleased and build a lot of siege!

But shaka and napoleon are objectively the worst. Both declare @ pleased, both have 40 unitprob (tied #1) and both are extremely difficult to get to friendly in the first 150+ turns. Shaka has AGG and better uniques for the early threat though.

It depends. Sometimes the game hands out freebies, like "here mansa, have 21% of the world's land in this 7 civ game where that is 50% more land than you should have". When THAT happens, 2 things snowball:

1. He tech whores with everyone, so he still gets the cities and still techs well
2. He has a high enough peace weight to HATE warmongers, and now he has the size + production to overcome his low unitprob
3. He is extremely difficulty for the asphats to rush early because he has the single best defensive UU of the early game. A skirmisher is almost always better than a totem pole archer. That hurts.

So he'll wind up smacking the warmongers around and teching out of control. Of course, MOST AIs will run away in this situation, but mansa runs away in tech also which gets really annoying. Fighting mechinfantry at 1820 AD isn't fun, especially if they're backed by nukes.

I don't mention Alex because his backstabbing tendencies normally do more harm than good to his global hegemony dreams :p Ok, sometimes he gets good, but almost as much times as that he tries to war the wrong person and suffers the consquences of that. Shaka does that far less times.
