Rolled a totally random Fractal map, on Immortal (no huts/events). Ended up with Montezuma, that lovely little fella, in a decent enough spot.

The game ended up being pretty interesting in an unusual way. Another AI that I had then decided to rush to get out of the general area, was teching unusually fast. Suddenly the Oracle went, and Feudalism dropped from the AI's "possible to tech" list..... Yeah, scratch that plan! :D

I've only seen the AI pull off such an Oracle gambit twice. Probably not too likely to happen again to others playing the map, but maybe you'll want a go at it anyway?

I happened to settle 1W, but do what you feel is best of course. In general I don't like settling (and thus wasting) on a floodplain.

I wouldn't settle 1W unless the scout reveals something to the West -- it loses a turn, a forest and potentially something 1S2E

I think I've never seen the AI oracle feudalism. "Worst" thing that happened to me was T55 Confu+Oracle-taoism :D

I read the oracle taoism bit and I was like that's not too odd. But then I read the t55 haha

That is certainly one way to go, although we can already see there is forest on that tile (unless I misunderstand you), so there shouldn't be food (unless deer, which isn't great anyway). What I happened to do, was to move the scout eastwards to see what might be lost, and then deciding. It was a risk, but one I was willing to take to preserve the extra floodplain (4 FPs is nice, as it is only 1 :yuck: ). Plus, settling on a fugly plains tile isn't the worst thing ever :D

I've never seen an AI Oracle Feudalism before. The other case of deep gambits I implied was when an AI Oracled Divine Right. Not terribly useful in itself, but it's a mighty expensive tech, much more so than our "wet dream" of Oracling Civil Service.

On the lowest difficulty settings it's probably possible to Oracle something silly deep though.

Forget about my post I mixed up East and West (thought you had settled 1E). 1W can make sense even though I probably wouldn't settle 1T later for it.

Well AIs can Oracle DR all they want, it does only slow them down -- more hammers spent on religious stuff. Oracling CS is definitely something else (I've never done it on deity).

On Settler you could Oracle Future Tech on a good enough map I'm sure
