Monty Python's Crawling Circus - Training Games

I would like to join the monarch game. I am always lurking but need to finally get into one of these games. I desperately need training. I have ptw 1.21.
I have time to play every night. No vacations or school to worry about.

We're gonna be playing on PTW, not regular civ, sorry Dominix! By all means follow the game and if you have any questions we'll be more than happy to answer :)

Half the places are filled. Maximum of 5 more slots for two 6-player games. It looks like we'll be playing one of the games on monarch, the other on emperor :)

I just thought I'd chime in with a comment:

I strongly recommend having no more players than 5 total per game (1 veteran + 4 learners), and 4 per game is better in many ways (1 veteran + 3 learners).

I know it's tempting to have as many players as possible, but in my experience, once you get to six players, co-ordinating the game, getting any team atmosphere going, etc etc, just becomes too difficult. With 4-5 players total, you can get a nice team atmosphere, and each player learns alot. With more players than that it just takes too long for the game to cycle round the roster, and player interest will dwindle.

If there is any room left, I would be up for a Monarch game. I'm currently winning about 50-60% on Regent, but with some help, I'm sure I could take on Monarch.

Sorry to hear that umanwizard :( If you can get hold of PTW you are welcome to retake your spot.

Emperor:
Yaype
Greebley
OneFastWarrior

Monarch:
GIJoe
Jimmy Dean

Amirsan: what do you think abour Sirp's proposal that we cut it down to teams of 5? I'm quite happy with that. It would mean only 3 spaces left!

Sign me up for the Emperor game please, and thanks for doing this you guys!

sure thing Mad-Bax :goodjob:

2 spots left!! Anyone for the monarch game?

Is it too early to discuss what civs we want to play? I think my vote would be on Korea. They are one civ I haven't really played yet. They also have a unusual UU if I remember correctly - an upgrade of the catapult or cannon? I tend to not build ranged units until artillary, but reading the SG's cannons and catapults are probably more useful than I give them credit for.

Other than a slight preference for Korea, I am willing to go with any civ or even choosing "random". I often randomize my civ in my home games so I get a diversity.

I'll sign up for the Monarch game. I'm largely n00bish - I've played a lot, but some parts of the game (particularly anything military) are tougher to me than others. Getting experienced advice would be goooood.

Oh, and I have PTW 1.27, though I can backtrack to 1.21 if I need to.

Normally, I would agree with Greebley on playing as Korea, as I feel that they are somewhat disrespected because of their UU. The one SG I have finished used Korea, however, so I would prefer using a different civ. Sorry Greebley.:(

I have no preference of what civ we play.

I don't particularly want to play Ottomans, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese or Babylonians as I have played them all recently. If I had a choice I'd go fo the Mongols and give the Keshiks a ride out.
Since I am not playing GOTM I could also fancy playing the Vikings.

That said I will go with the flow, I'm easy.

KotatsuNeko, welcome!

Emperor - Team Monty
Yaype
Greebley

Amirsan says he can't start until the 16th, so we have a couple of days in which we can have the pre-game discussion. I'll probably generate the maps soon. BTW, it's going to be PTW 1.21.

Since the games are on different difficulty levels and this isn't a competetion, we can use different civs and different maps for the 2 games so we cover more traits and map features. With reagrd to the civs, it is best to avoid the strongest civs and focus on the weaker and least-used civs. I'm still thinking about the civs and will consult with Amirsan about which to use for the 2 games. We will probably avoid industrious.

A shadowy figure walks up to the TDG registration office

Drat, Emperor TDG is filled :(.

While I am here. I would like to sign up for a Monarch Game. I have a PTW 1.21f patch instaled.

I have no civ preferance. I am here to gain more experiance in Civ3 so that one day I could play Deity.

I have been away from playing any SG and would like to gradualy return into the SG world. I have started playing Civ3 more frequently (Thanks in part of being the President in the Demogame and playing a few GOTMs). I am looking for a refresher course in Monarchy to best prepare myself to play in a Emperor TDG.

@amirsan - I would like to thank you for starting this TDG. I have always waited to partisipate in one. Mostly when I look in the SG. Most of the time the TDGs are all filled. I am considered lucky that I signed up just in time :). I would also like to thank your Sig for linking me here since I saw the advertisement floating in your sig in the MSDG :).

YES! All I ever play are the industrious civs, normally persia/ottomans/carthage/france. Ever since I first played one, I couldn't stand not having the fast workers.

Perhaps we can try India? Commercial and Religious is a good pair of traits, and they don't need any resources for their UU, which is nice if you're short of horses or iron.

I am up for any civ. I am here to learn. Underscore learn.
I am ok on regent at times but still learning
world size,barbs,etcc.. whatever you decide. Just let me know and lets play.

The roster is full!

Emperor - Team Monty
Yaype
Greebley
OneFastWarrior
Mad-Bax

Monarch - Team Python
GI Joe
Jimmy Dean
KotatsuNeko
CivGeneral

I'm just waiting for Amirsan to get back to me about the map conditions and which game he wishes to take. The maps will then be generated and the games can start.

Hey Nad. Great idea setting up some TDGs. I am a little bummed that I missed out on the emperor TDG but will drop by occasionally to see how things are progressing. You never know, I just might learn something new.

Good luck teams.
