Monty's depiction in Civ 6

It would be cool though if they gave him a different look than what we've seen before, but I don't think it has to be 100% accurate.

Im sorry, I don't want to come off as a purist. I do Aztec deities ilustration, I know how much of a pain in the butt in can be to do the research about anything prehispanic while avoiding falling into innacurate references.

I guess recognizable elements of past Monty's will stay out of tradition (like having a skull there somewhere) and keeping the Civ style, I'd just love too see a Firaxis do a Monty that looks more Aztec.

It would certainly be better than say this, for example:
Spoiler :

P.D: Paradox took that same depiction of Monty II for EU4, and it looks great,

Spoiler :

Civ4 Monty was ridiculous looking but not nearly has absurd as Civilization Online Montezuma.

From left to right: Montezuma II, Qin Shi Huang, Caesar Augustus, Cleopatra
Spoiler :

Instead of going for historical accuracy they went the complete opposite direction and turned the leaders into the worst Disney / Pixar caricatures imagined.

Judging by the cartoony map and city art we have seen so far this might be a sneak preview of what Civ6 leaders look like especially since 3 of the leaders pictured here are confirmed in the game.

Quite a way to jumping to conclusion if you ask me. Sure, it might be a new "standard" that Civ 6 will be. But I for one would prefer to be a bit more optimistic.

Anyway, I google for Civ Rev's Montezuma and found out he is basically a little more realistic version of Civ 4.

Civ5 Montezuma is probably the depiction I liked best, even if there's little historical accuracy.

There's something creepy and immersive about dealing with a slightly unhinged leader like Monty in Civ5 with his wild gesticulations. That he is almost always at war presses that point home.

Along with Alexander, Elizabeth and a few others, he's among the top tear best AI opponents for being so damn distinct and characterised.

I have no problem having that Monty back. He's been slotted as something of a warmonger for ages. Why change now.

Cleopatra in Civilization Online looks like she is auditioning for a porn video. I highly doubt she will look anything like that in Civ VI.

Yeah, one problem though. Those pictures are of Montezuma II. Isn't the Montezuma present throughout the civ games Montezuma I? I realise that the one in the game is based on those pictures of Montezuma II, but isn't that due to there being a lack of photos of Montezuma I?
Only Civ5 had Montezuma I, all other Civ games had Montezuma II.

P.D: Paradox took that same depiction of Monty II for EU4, and it looks great, I'd love to see a civ Monty closer to that over yet another angry bombastic dude with a funny headress.

Spoiler :

WOW, that looks amazing, its just like the colour portrait! I'd love for firaxis to base Monty's depiction based on this! Add a few more feathers, give him six pack abs, and some bigger muscles and hey presto.

I agree in that the acting and context of that scene (skull rack and cheering crowd) was really cool.
