MOO2Civ

Well, that's not right... I'll try and check what's wrong.

EDIT @Shaalae & mariogreymist: Very weird... I double-(or triple-)checked and everything works OK. You are talking about patch 4k?

I've added a MOOCiv patch 4k Enclosed Space link tothe MOO2Civ patch 4k download page (and vice versa).

Also, my previous post may have been premature: I can't seem to edit the Enclosed Space mapscript (either via Worldbuilder or via WBS editing) without messing up the file. So for now I intend to simply include TC01's Enclosed Space add-on with the upcoming MOO2Civ 4l Full Install.

When I installed MOO2Civ patch4k, it created a directory structure in Program Files that was parallel to my Civ4 install. I have installed a Civ4 more than once. My latest install is from the Complete DVD. Maybe the directory path is different in my version of Civ4? Maybe the installer is finding old stuff in the Registry?

It created: /Program Files/Sid Meier's Civilization 4/Beyond the Sword/..
I have: /Program Files/2K Games/Firaxis Games/Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete/Beyond the Sword/..

So, I browsed the installer over to the right directory and created a folder to hold the mod.

Thanks for posting that information (and welcome to CFC), dweller_below! Indeed if /Program Files/Sid Meier's Civilization 4/Beyond the Sword/.. is not found, the directory is created by the Auto-installer. (You can check what the Auto-installer is doing while using it, and correct it if need be.)

Could this be the case here

I've downloaded and installed the full install version...but nothing appears different in my BtS or Vanilla menu options, and under the directory only "uninstall Moo2" is a choice. I'm glad I have it...can someone tell me how to play it?

and here

same here!!
?

If so, please check dweller_below's info.

BTW, I should note that the auto-installer should install in /Program Files/Firaxis Games/Sid Meier's Civilization 4/Beyond the Sword/Mods. And I repeat that you can check what the auto-installer does when installing and correct it if necessary.

I have high hopes for the MOO2Civ mod. I play MOO1 and MOO2 at least once a year. I enjoyed FFH, FFH2, Fall Further, Final Frontier. Now, I am playing the StarTrek2 mod. Great stuff. I look forward to playing MOO2Civ. But, I am having some problems getting it to run.

I have a dark secret. I am a linux user. I am playing all this stuff in Wine. Please don't hold it against me.

Anywho, when I run the MOO2Civ installer, it looks like it finishes moving the files into the ..\Beyond the Sword\Mods\MOO2Civ4k directory. Then the installer crashes. Probably something screwy with my environment. And, then when I try to load the mod, I get a CTD (Crash To Desktop).

I expect I am confusing the installer and not getting the files I need in the right places.

Is there anyway I can get a directory tree listing of the MOO2Civ mod? So I can see what might be missing.

Also, does it drop stuff into ..\My Games\Beyond the Sword\assets or ..\My Games\Beyond the Sword\CustomAssets\ I'm kind of expecting to see some stuff there and the installer doesn't seem to be puting anything there.

Welcome dweller_below! ;)

As there have now been several reports on problems with installing patch 4k, I'll be uploading MOO2Civ 4l some time today or tomorrow (making patch 4k redundant). In addition I'll clarify the install instructions. I hope this will resolve any loading issues and apologize for the inconvenience.

:goodjob: Uploaded

MOO2Civ patch 4l

Full details on the download page here:

http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=13379

(Currently uploaded at 2shared; alternate upload at StrategyInformer available as well)

Some custom music has been added, though it doesn't display automatically in-game.

To hear the custom music, unzip and install in your current MOO2Civ folder; when starting up MOO2Civ, select Advanced, then Options and under Audio select Custom Music Folder; choose the Civ4\BtS\Mods\MOO2Civ\Assets\Sounds\Soundtrack folder. (Or, for a shorter path, simply leave the file in C:\Users\[your name]\Downloads.)

This way the custom music will feature during every game, so you might want to turn it off (by deselecting the Custom Music Folder) if you want to play something else.

You can ofcourse also simply listen to your own music in this fashion.

NOTE: I've added TC01's enclosed Space mapscript, although it doesn't work as intended with the current patch unfortunately...

EDIT: Instead of trying to fix the patch4k upload, I've decided to release patch 4l a bit earlier than planned. (So a number of features are postponed to the next patch.)

Updated post #1 and Latest Version thread in the MOO2Civ Project & Development forum

Just wanted to say first off that you have done some great work on this MOD and we all really appreciate it :goodjob:

I was downloading the "L" patch and noticed that the reported file size varied between 140 Mb and 101 Mb (depending on which link you used to get to the download page) but when I actually downloaded the file, it was only 51 Mb. Is this a problem with the download site not reporting the correct values?

Keep up the great work!

Thanks! I'm assuming the file size discrepancy is indeed due to the site, as its exactly the same file.:crazyeye:

Mean while I've reloaded patch 4k, following several reports about a faulty install, as it still seems to get downloads, now totalling 700+. (I've updated the DL Page as well.);)

I've edited the patch 4l Download Page (added a note on using custom music, clarified using Multiplayer mode).

Just wanted to say that this is a really nice mod and thanks for all your work on it.

I also had a question - is there no Civic option that allows you to spend gold to finish planetary system projects? For example, is there a way I can spend some money to buy that destroyer in the system that has a pirate close to it?

Thanks.:) To answer your question:

- Slave State allows you to draft up to 5 units per turn and sacrifice population to finish production.

In addition you can increase production significantly by combining

- Light Ship Doctrine (-10% build cost for Destroyers/Invasion Ships)
- Monarchy (+50% production in your capital system)
- Industrial Economy (+15% production empirewide)
- Mechanized Workforce (+10% production - can't be combined with Slave State, as it's in the same Civic category).

There's no civic that allows you to simply buy production though.

Instead of switching to Slave State you might be better off building a missile, fighter or bomber in a threatened system. (Which is always a wise precaution even if a system isn't threatened.) Alternatively (or in addition) it might be handy to have a couple of Invasion Ships ready, just in case. ;)

Aaargh... just uncovered a major ****up on my part: when reinstalling Civ4, it seems I forgot to reinstall official patch 3.17... (I only stumbled onto it when looking to reinstall unofficial patch 0.21...) I'll have to uninstall 3.19 and start over again...

This probably only affects patch 4l and may explain the current load error. Sincere apologies.

OK, I've now reinstalled BtS with patches 3.17+3.19 and am getting a python error when loading (BtS, not the mod). Any suggestions on how to proceed would be most welcome.
