This forum is so quiet. It used to have more action in it. :hmm: What we need is some discussion. So, who has an idea about what to talk about? :p

How about Kasparov and his recent "match" with Fritz. Pretty boring if you ask me. They only played four games. And of course it turned out to be a draw.
 
I always find these man vs. machine matches quite boring, what do they want to prove nowadays? It is only embarrassing for chess programmers that they still have problems with the best humans. OTOH, this shows what a rich game chess is.
 
They could be more exciting. These little short matches don't mean anything. They need to play a major match. That could be cool. They do seem to be get the public's attention more so than regular matches. Now, check out this old game from 1977 between Fischer and the computer Greenblatt from MIT!

Computers back then were not the superfast byte crackers of today.

The man vs. machine events are interesting because it apparently shows that humans and computers are advancing at the same rate. How long will humans be able to maintain this is fun to watch.
