More Civilisations

I agree with Janboruta, although India's changes might not be so huge...
EDIT: Scrap that, now we know, it's +1 Tourism instead of +1 Gold for Mughal Fort...

Personally I'd go for Ayyubids (you got a triple tie now :P ) Saladin is a great lad.

If I can post my oppinion on this, India would be the most interesting. Mionan civ is also a very interesting idea too.

Don't forget that many players want a "divided" India civ. Changing the indian civ would be the most reasonable when talking about how can the game be improved, what do the players want and what can enhance the historical veracity of the game :)

Right, now that I've picked myself up off the floor.

That looks fantastic Leugi - stick the BNW logo on it and I reckon you'd convince almost everyone they're a 10th civ. I'm wanting to do the India revamp fairly soon now!

That map is pretty cool too, but I don't know if it's wide enough - I'm pretty sure the Minoans were also on Santorini and some other Greek islands as well, prior to Thera going off

Better! I like the blurred feel of it Leugi. The left side isn't exactly the same style, but no biggie

So, from what I understand, you're splitting India up into three groups: the Mughals (mongol-arabic/islamic representation), the Marathi (hindu-indo/aryan representation), and "India" (modern/post-colonialism amalgam representation).

However, you're leaving out a rather significant group in Indian history; Dravidian representation. Please consider splitting India into 4 civs and including a Dravidian/Tamil empire. The Chola Empire in particular was significant and long lasting and would give your mod representation for Southern India, which it's currently lacking.

It was originally just going to be the Mughals, with the Mughal fort being replaced for obvious reasons in India. I wanted a militaristic civ at some point, since all of our plans have a UU / UB composition and the Maratha seemed to fit, so I petitioned Sukritact and he agreed to do the map but didn't really like the idea. I'm not sure about yet another inclusion - it could work given the wider expanse of the Chola, but I'll see what the others think. (Guys, that's your cue)

Actually, I was a little confused at first. I didn't see much need for a "New India" if you were already including the Mughals and Maratha, besides maybe a desire to keep using the Ghandi leaderhead. That originally the plan was just to split it into the Mughals and India makes it make more sense.

If you don't mind losing Ghandi I would keep it at just the Mughals and Maratha (and Chola?), otherwise if you're doing modern India why not also modern Pakistan, etc., etc.? Plus the War Elephant doesn't really make sense for a modern India (was the plan to give that to Maratha?). What units/buildings would modern India have (that are specifically modern)? I guess Population Growth still works for modern India.

Besides the Chola, there's also the Indus Valley Civ in terms of important civs, though that's really separate from India entirely except by geography.

But, yeah, ignore my new rant, but seriously consider the Chola. Dravidian culture is such a huge part of Indian history.

It's a bit more complicated; from what I understand, the Minoans were basically peaceful traders; then they got conquered by the warlike Myceneans. But Minoan culture hugely influenced the Myceaneans who basically adopted the culture.

I'd brighten up the island, so it stands out more on this quite saturated background. There just isn't happening too much on Crete :p

Is this better?

I love the new India civs but I'm also worried about a modern India civ. I think you could set a precedent of splitting up a lot of civs, which I'm not sure I support. But I gotta say the art is brilliant.

We have been talking of some splits of other civilizations, although some (such as Polynesia) are in dire need of a split. I think it should be kept in mind that this isn't really an India split - it's us changing the Mughal Fort of India to a Gurkha UU since it's stupid to have a UB for a civ referencing another civ. Other than that, it's only the city list that has been split.

So might we expect, say, a Maori/Polynesia split in the future?

At this stage it's looking like Maori / Hawaii / Rapa Nui, with a possible fourth civ from Central Polynesia (Tonga / Samoa etc.) if we can make it unique enough.

The only other one that I've been toying with is the idea of a Germany split into something like Prussia and the HRE, and I know that Irkalla is working on a Greece split into Macedon, Athens and Sparta.

It will be a nice thing to see two mods challenging each other. As far as I know, JFD's Maori and Prussia are already there, and he's also planning to do the HRE.

Also what begs to be split is Austria - into Austria and Hungary. There is already a quite good Hungary mod made by Hungarians, but it has some flaws and isn't polished enough for my taste.

Is this better?

Yes :)
