More Civilisations

Has no one considered doing the Khmer or the Burmese? Frankly, I'm surprised.

There are 1 or 2 Khmer civs floating around the forums that are actually pretty well down except for art issues.

I don't think anyone has brought up doing a Burma civ, though, which is odd as they'd be a great addition.

There are also a bunch of Vietnam civs already modded, but they all have a few problems IMO.

I think Tomatekh plans to do a Champa civ for BNW.

Frankly, I would love to have more Indochina representation.

Sukritact just showed me this, I couldn't help but post it here. It looks fantastic

Also what begs to be split is Austria - into Austria and Hungary. There is already a quite good Hungary mod made by Hungarians, but it has some flaws and isn't polished enough for my taste.

Actually I'm thinking about making a new Hungary mod, or at least to improve a couple things in cool3a2's one.
I also dislike a couple things there, and agree that it's not polished enough.
I was already planning to ask for some art imporivements from you (if you are still up to it), most importantly a new map...

EDIT: alternatively, I'm more than willing to help in developing a new Hungary mod here, under More Civs

Map was made in accordance to the times of Stephen I, which was far from the "greatest extent". In Civ 5 maps are, in most cases, tied to the leader and I wanted to follow suit. Changing the map would make it a bit necessary to change the leader as well. I already allowed JFD to use art for Hungary I made, but I'm not sure what will become of it yet :)

I don't think splitting Germany is neccesary but I wouldn't mind an entirely reworked version. FOr some reason I think "realpolitik" just screams UA to me. I'd be interested in seeing what modders can do regarding Civs interacting with the World Congress after BNW.

Besides the Chola, there's also the Indus Valley Civ in terms of important civs, though that's really separate from India entirely except by geography.

Although unrelated to Pouakai's India project, I'll actually be releasing a Harappa/Indus Valley civ a little after the release of BNW.

I've also been whirring away behind the scenes in amongst writing my final history paper (4500 words in a weekend), so now Sukritact and Leugi are going to start work on an overhaul of the art for the Zambezi civs. I'll work on the India overhaul first (Chola will not be in, but there's a good chance we revisit them later on along with some of the other SE Asian civs Sukritact mentioned), and then with any luck by the time it's done we'll be able to release a new version of Zambezi with modified versions of the existing civs to utelise BNW features as well as the next three / four civs to be included. Also as a note, we're removing the modularity of Zambezi for time reasons. When I was testing it as is, it took at least a couple minutes to fire up Zambezi alone, now it'll take only as long as a single civ.

What about "Minoan Boat of the Minoans"? We are going to have a Venetian Merchant of Venice after all.

Off topic aside, looks nice, I like the waves.

The Minoan UU:

I've no idea what we're gonna call it though....

"Longboat", or "Minoan Longboat" if you want to avoid overlap with the Viking ship also called a long boat (although since that name is never used in the game for a Viking unit, there's really no need. Plus the viking boat is more properly known as a "longship").

Longship seems reasonable actually; this article refers to them as such:

Each one of the long ships was a mastery of craftsmanship in wood using bronze tools especially with their large two-handled saws that were almost two meters long and a third of a meter wide.

There is another article that just refers to them as "Aegean Ships".

Alternatively, since Greek is not one of the available language choices, we could call them "Galéa", besides, the word seems to be obsolete in Modern Greek (although something that may be problematic is that based off my research is that Galéa is probably the plural and Galéon is probably the singular).

Well, the Minoans didn't necessarily speak a Greek dialect; their language is undecipherable and it might not have even been Indo-European. Choosing a Greek word for the ship is no more or less correct than choosing an English one if you wanted to go with "Longboat". "Galéa" sounds nice, though.

I was thinking the same thing. ...unless you want to go a bit outside the box and call the the unit Argonaut for fun.

That's a very nice looking icon, though I reckon the sail could get more love. And I'll be doing the icon for Maratha leader, I'll come up with it in a few days.

I've always had problems doing sails! :P

I'd rather call it a Galéa or a Longship; besides, the ship is called The Argo, the Argonauts would be the heroes on it!
