More Scandinavian music, please.

What does Terasbetoni mean?

Btw imo they sound horrible- but i never liked Manowar either... The music seems boring, and they only appear to play power chords at slow speed...

Teräs=Steel
Betoni=?(that gray thing that's hard, like cement)(is it cement?)

Yes, they sound horrible.

Reinforced concrete would be quite a good translation for Teräsbetoni.

I suspcect IF already regrets asking for more. ;)

And it's first at this point that I see that you want Islandic music, too. Now that's an entire chapter of its own - will return with some great Islandic tunes. :D

how could i forget the hellacopters and crash diet.

wait, crash diet are from scandinavia, right?

Scandinavian bands I like:

Satyricon
Kent
Madrugada
Raga Rockers
Onkel Kånkel
Turbonegro
Silverbullitt

AFAIK they are all on wiki and/or youtube.

kuukkeli, touché!

Abramis Brama is a very good heavy metal band singing in Swedish. They remind me about Black Sabbath, Kyuss, November (old Swedish 70s band) and Soundgarden.

There is quite a bit of good Scandinavian music.

Regarding Kim Larsen, it is certainly not true that everybody loves him. While I don't think he's horrible or anything, it's just not the kind of music I listen to.

From Denmark:

Under Byen(or, "Below the City"), probably my favourite Danish band. Very interesting and unique music. A song from their most recent album can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xy-66WGK5EE
The lyrics are so obscure that it doesn't really matter if you understand Danish or not, it still makes little sense.

Efterklang A mix of classical and electronica, somewhat reminiscent of Sigur Rös at times. English lyrics.

Mew Progressive rock/pop. The lead singer has a very unique voice. One of their best songs can be heard here, the video is a bit...weird, though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFjKALF454g English lyrics.

Windermere Space rock. Their first album was quite nice, haven't heard all of the newest one yet. Many of their songs can be heard on their website www.windermere.dk "Trailer Park" is probably the best one. English lyrics.

From Sweden:

Anglägard: I believe the genre is called symphonic prog, very epic, nice guitarplay. Swedish lyrics.

The Flower Kings: Neo-prog, VERY much inspired by Yes. English lyrics.

From Norway:

Kaizer's Orchestra: Polka-rock. It is as crazy as it sounds. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65Y3UuwWftM Norwegian lyrics.

From Iceland:

Sigur Rós: Probably well-known already, one of my favourite bands. Especially Agætis Byrjun. Hopelandic/Icelandic lyrics.

Múm: Nice and relaxing electronica. English lyrics.

From Finland:

Nightwish: Little introduction required, I guess.

Oh no, my friend. This thread is turning out to be a smörgåsbord of good music.

I was planning to comment on every suggestion that was made, but I haven't got the time or energy to do that at the moment, but I am checking out all acts that were previously unfamiliar to me and I have found several new gold nuggets, so thanks to all of you.

Good to see Lake of Tears get a mention. I do recommend 'Raistlin and the Rose' from their Crimson Cosmos album.

Hammerfall are nice and cheesy.

There was a good Swedish novelty record from around the late 1950s-early 1960s about coconuts that we used to have.
