Most annoying Civ leader in you're game?

And all those zealots will demand you to convert religion:)

Not if they're dead. ;)

I also despise peacemongers who won't even go to war with you even if they're you're "friend". IMO, civs that don't bother defending themselves deserve to be destroyed. :king:

It's for this reason I despise peacevassals. If I beat the crap out of the masters, I will just wipe out the peacevassals off the map.

And of course this includes... you guessed it... Sitting Bull. I enjoy razing his cities, even if it's completely unnecessary. Even if I'm gonna win by space, I'm still gonna nuke him anyways.

I hate Isabella and Genghis. One time i offered her 4 tech's for Rifling, because i had to lower my scientific funding to keep my gold above 0, and she still said no. Then, Ghengis was on the other continent, and so he sent his men on a boat to attack me, when i was fighting America and Russia. Both of them were assaulting my flanks, and he comes in from behind and takes Berlin from me.

The warmonger/psychos aren't really that annoying for moi--I know what to expect, and the lesser ones, like Monty, Ghenghis, and Alex, can be funny at times. They declare, and then march w/paltry armies of outmoded troops. And they do it again and again. Nappy, Ragnar, and Shaka . . . not so much funny, but still predictable.

Cathy and Izzy; not a problem either. Once again, I know what to expect. Treachery and Zealotry, respectively.

The really annoying ones are the Rexers who, once they've accomplished that, attempt to bully everyone, including moi. These include Joao, Brennus, Gilg, and Sury. There may be others in this category that have slipped my mind, but Joao is honestly the most annoying of the bunch. It may be that non-chalant leader image that comes up when clicked on. It's as if I'm bothering him by attempting to conduct diplomacy. Very satisfying to occupy his last city at the close of a war. Goodbye to you, Joao, and your stupid hat.

hmm... the most annoying? definitely isabella. I don't have so much trouble with anyone, as my goal is to kill them all anyway, but isabella makes things so... well, DIFFICULT. She ALWAYS gets buddhism (has anyone ever noticed that? she always goes for meditation first...), she ALWAYS has her little cronies (I call them the Buddhist Buddies), and in late-game, she ALWAYS defensive pacts with all her little zealot buddies. I can handle rags, shaka, toku, and all them, mostly because no one will help them unless they share a religion, and everyone hates them most of the time (especially suvayarman for some reason, everyone hates suvy and genghis). But Izzy... she is always determined to make it a multi-front war in some way (or multiple ways).

She also usually gets the AP unless I beeline it, and then the REAL problem begins...

What's really funny was when I get the UN and try for "World Civic -- Free Religion", over and over, which if passed would utterly destroy the AP (at least I think), and this is Izzy:

yup... she's a zealot alright.

Mansa, Toku, Sitting Bull, of course.

For me, Pericles for some reason usually ends up being a PITA. He usually goes for culture, but he's no weakling. If he ends up with a peacevassal he's very hard to deal with.

You gave a very good description of Izzy. If you are unfortunate enough not to get her religion she will be a problem. I usually try to get into her little circle if I can. She even gives free missionaries as a bonus. But if you get locked out I can see her being the worst. Or on an Island with two other AI's creating a lovefest and zooming ahead in tech. Mansa on another continent is another nightmare.

I had noticed Buddhism. I hadn't thought about the AP but, now that you mention it . . . Another reason to get into her religion. Your strategy of building the UN and trying Free Religion is a good one. She gets the defy unhappiness and is weakened.

I've been playing Civ 4 since release and except 1 time I have never seen AI Izzy found an early religion. Usually I see her found and convert to Taoism then she goes Zealot on everyone and has 5 Civs declare on and wipe her out. And I do get her in a majority of my games.

I find Sury and Louis to be the most annoying. Sury rexes like mad, and then has the nerve to pester me for things when he has grabbed every available piece of land on the continent.

There's a special place in Hell for border-popping culture whores like Louis. I like sending him there. :)

It seems to me that in most games the most annoying Civ leader is the human. Far less trustworthy and far more manipulative, warmongery (if that's a real word), and (just to make things even worse) always stronger than the military strength indicator indicates while also capable of squeezing more GNP and/or production out of a given chunk of territory than the poor unfortunate AIs.

I'm really annoyed by leaders that can't tell the difference between your and you're.

Surprising. I've seldom seen her miss an early religion. She usually isn't that dangerous because she spends so many hammers on missionaries. If she doesn't get an early religion until Taoism with her personality she would get wiped out. The AI tends to go for a religion it founds without regard for diplomacy. Sort of like a new player fascinated with founding a religion for the Shrine.

@God-Emperor. Definitely true. Even Cathy doesn't measure up to a human.

I  at Lemon Merchant's insight!

Nah, it's called police state in Civ.

Monty will go to war at the slightest excuse or even if there's no excuse at all.

If I'm not mistaken, Universal free religion doesn't ruin the Apostolic Palace as far as getting the hammers for religious buildings, though it would eliminate some of the voting options. It would wipe out the effects of Spiral Minaret, University of Sankore and Sistine Chapel.

Half right on Sistine. It still gives a lot of Culture for your cities that run lots of specialists. Great to build for those who want to spend a lot of time in Caste if they are going for Culture even if they are in Free Religion or have no religion.

Civ leaders I hate the most? In decreasing order of hate:

Hannibal, Zara, Pacal (if far away), Catherine, Mansa Musa

Hannibal is almost always a very fast techer. He is usually not very strong militarily, but is a grave threat to the player's tech lead if he's not a close neighbour. Pacal's the same to a lesser extent. Zara's a very dangerous REXer and so is Cathy.
