i don't know how to post a poll but anyway whats the most gold you ever had?

the most i had (without cheating) was 34,000 (i went to war with everyone and forced them to give all thier gold and trust me they had like 2000 each)

ps HOW IN THE WORLD DOES THE COMPUTER GET SO MUCH GOLD!

Probably around 6k...i spend my gold quickly cash rushing improvements, and military units in far off, corrupt towns. Its not doing me any good just sitting in my treasury, may as well spend it.

I've got to slightly over 10000 gold but then the Indians declared war on me so I ended the game with about 5000 gld after I had destroyed them. I had to do alot of upgrading during the war and I was in a democracy at the time, so I was leaking gold.

I usually make over 4000 or 5000 golds each turn. Therefore, it's not so hard for the AI to get 2000 golds.

PS: If you run a democratic gov, you could be easily making 4000 golds each turn. Plus the Smith Trading Companay Wonder, plus the Wall Street wonder, plus comercial civ bonus, you could be easily making over 5000 golds each turn.

63 gold, or was it 64? I never hoard gold, always build improvements when I can afford it

I'm with gozpel, there is no point to hoarding gold. Might as well use it to buy improvements, build embassies, plant spies etc. Unless you are hoarding for bragging rights, in which case I am all for it.

I usually play as a democracy and if I plan to go to war I will hoard gold for several turns and get my balance up to 10-15000. Once I declare war I can bump my luxery rate up a few points and run up to -$1000 per turn for the duration of the war, this helps keep war weariness under control.

I give all my gold to France so they won't beat me up.:cry:

Errr... I agree with you except when you say "Easily" ! When I make 100 per turn in a democracy, it's a holy day for me...
What is the size of your empire ? And WHEN do you make that insane amount of money (don't tell me 3000 BC, please ;) )

Otherwise, I try to stay as close as possible as 1000 goldin stock, in order to maximise Wall Street.

Size of my empire = 150+ cities
When = around 1400 A.D. or later
Gov = Democracy
Civ = Any civ
Save game = Available if you don't believe me.;)

Sorry, France is one of my favorite civ.;)

Oooh, I DO believe you, don't worry !

I'm just so JEALOUS ;)

And one mor thing... What about corruption with 150 cities ?
Or maybe you're not as scrupulous as I am about city space, and you make them overlap a lot ?

Corruption is not so bad since I place the FP and my palace in a good spot.

Yes, I'm very scrupulous with city building. I wish to get all of them to size 30 or above. Here is a sample of my beautiful city.:)

The glory of a gold stockpile is:

1. being able to buy techs, resources/lux, and military alliences.
2. being able to go into deficit spending during war (when you have to pump up ent) and when you need to rush build military hardware.

During the industrial ages I usually have 1000-2000 gold. During the modern ages usually 3000-5000.

If I may be so bold as ask, there are a few things I don't understand :
1. Why is your cultural border also your city limit ? Is this city isolated ?
2. 152 turns to build a police station ? That's darn long, no ?
3. How can you have 5 leaders at the same time ? I thought only one at a time was allowed ?
4. If you space 150 cities so they don't overlap, I guess you must play on Pangea, Huge, with a good deal of land percentage ?

Moonsinger, do you name all your cities after yourself - or was this after you ran out of default names?

Masq, those are armies, not leaders. Although you can have multiple leaders if you don't use them as soon as they're created.
