I played AND a few months ago and really liked it, except from constant crashing. now I want to play it again but I am unsure which version?
What do you think from experience which version is more stable 1.75c or 2.0beta?And does 2.0beta offer so much more that it is worth to risk?

2.0 SVN is quite stable. It has some annoying bugs, such as the hardcoded Commando for AI units. Otherwise its the best version so far.

IMHO 1.75c is the best version out right now. AND2 has too many bugs afaik, almost unplayable to me; I don't know if the religion bug / divine prophets has been solved, for example, or if every feature that was "imported" from C2C works in AND2 (I've understood that most of those features don't work right now and are causing problems).

AND 1.75 patched to C was the Last Officially finished version according to Afforess.

And 1.76 on up are actually all betas. Some work better than others.

Using SVN for

1) Download and install Tortoise SVN if you don't already have it (http://tortoisesvn.net/downloads.html)

2) Prepare a folder to contain your copy of the project, it will be known as your 'Working Copy.' This Working Copy will be the local directory on your machine (that you just created) which will be your 'image' of the central repository - this is where you will make your changes when you want to contribute them and where other people's changes will sync down to). I strongly recommend that this is NOT your 'live' copy in 'program files/firaxis/...'. Mine is in \development\RoMAND, but the location doesn't matter - just put it somewhere convenient where you have space.

3) Checkout from the repository to the folder you created in (2). This will get the current revision and make a permanent connection between your working folder and the repository. Assuming you have installed SVN as in (1) you can do this by right-clicking the directory in Windows Explorer and selecting 'Tortoise SVN/Checkout...'

When it asks you for the repository URL enter:
'https://anewdawn.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/anewdawn/Trunk/Rise of Mankind - A New Dawn '

*Please note: Don't highlight and copy paste this, instead ~ right click and copy link address.

Future refreshes or uploads (aka Commits) only get changed files, so they will be much, much faster, especially since the really big things like art assets and movies don't tend to change much.

4) After it's all copied you are up and running!

Now how to get the working copy into play?:

:c5moves:1) Create an empty folder somewhere not inside 'program files'
:c5moves:2) Right click and drag the root folder of your working copy to this new folder when you let go of the right mouse button you can..
:c5moves: 3) Select the 'export versioned items here' option
:c5moves:4) Move the result into your mods folder (and rename it to Rise of Mankind - A New Dawn if needed)

So... 1.75c is the most stable version so far?I don't intend to play with prophets.

Neither do I, but it was a problem with a feature imported from C2C (by mistake, I suppose); I redownloaded the latest svn version and the problem looks gone (along with some other bugs ver 2.0 had some times ago). Maybe now 2.0 is better; I'll give it a try again.

As I said, I've redownloaded the latest svn version and now it looks like it's quite stable to me. I've played a couple of MP games with my wife since the last post and had no problem at all. Some random OOS from time to time but quickly solved by reloading the game. Using both Revolutions and Random Events caused no problem. Right now, AND2 looks impressive and Sgtslick and Teo265 were right: this is the best version so far.

Had first crash to desktop on AND2. Not random as reloading game doesn't help. I'm going back to 1.76.

Can you upload the savegame? Never had a fatal ctd until now with AND2 and I think I've done a lot of testing...

I accidently overwrote the game. But if it happens again I will surely upload it. It was strange because I wasn't even in the Renaissance Era yet. I never had C2D before that era. It was such a good start too. :(

Can somebody upload most stable the 2.0 SVN version with coinage civic fix as one zip or rar file?

Since it's almost 900MB zipped, I've uploaded it in 5 parts, here

This is the last SVN version with coinage fix; there are also 4 xml files in Gameinfo folder that I have reworked to balance the game at normal speed and noble level; other speeds and levels are left unchanged from "original" AND2.
If you want, you can anyway revert back to the original AND2 files even for normal speed and noble level as I have included the original files (renamed as ".ORIG"): just delete civ4civicinfos.xml, civ4erainfos.xml, civ4gamespeedinfo.xml and civ4handicapinfo.xml and rename the .orig files as .xml files. :)

Links are broken (contains three dots in url) Can you give correct links ?

They work for me if you click on them directly in 45*38'N's post.

1.75 does not have the coinage bug. But the latest SVN version doesn't either. :)

I'm not exactly sure what "2.03" is...

And by the way, KROME is actually a different project. It's a much lighter mod and has similar design goals. It's based off an older version of RoM and merged with K-Mod. I started the project, but Isabelxxx is the new project lead and she's really leaving my efforts in the dirt! Doing a great job on bug fixes and speed enhancements.
