Mouthwash in Vienna

The problem is that there is only a single person who can make good Strudel and the answer changes depending on who you ask.

I mean, the normal stuff like chicken or vegetables was alright, just nothing special. It's that anything specifically designated 'Austrian-style' was horrible, like the mashed potatoes or apple strudel.
In my experience, if you are in country X, and there is a dish specified as "Country X Style" Y, then it is the worst example of Y you will find, and only tourists will try it.

Real authentic restaurants that serve an authentic dish to locals also don't need to advertise in English.

Also, as a general tip, try to avoid eating close to major tourist attractions. The price/quality ratio is a lot better even two streets away.

A tip I was given is to find out where locals eat and go there.
