Please check, if you've wrote BUILDINGCLASS_UNITED_NATIONS in your civilizationInfos.xml really correct.

how do you change the stats the picture the xp [..]and what promotions a unit starts with

XML\Units\UnitInfos.xml

and the level

Special units are defined in the XML\Civilizations\CivilizationsInfos.xml
UUs (Unique Units) must have the same unitclass like an already existing unit, not an extra unitclass.

you do not show how to make units even though you will in the first episode

Making units = creating 3D models.
That's not his modding area ;).

I HAVE ANOTHER ERROR:
I TRY SAVING
BUT: please check whether if this file is opened in another program
it is not

Also civ counts for that.
Anoter case: Do you have Windows Vista/7?

I have Vista i am running as an admin

Merry Christmas also to you :).
And check it, if you have some time ;).

I checked that and they weren't in it. The only thing I tried to do differently was to load up my own leaderhead and not a picture. I haven't tried it without that.

Do you still get the problem/have you tried it again?
Sometimes a programm needs some time to shut down. Then you can't see it as active, but the files have still the flag "used" on them. Maybe that was the case.

i restarted my computer and i have the same problem

Okay, well, whenever I load the mod, it will go until it reaches XML something or other, and then gives me this message:

Allocating zero or less memory in CvXMLLoadUtility::SetVariableListTagPair
Current XML file is: xml\civlizations/CIV4CivilizationsInfos.xml

followed by
There are more siblings than memory allocated for them in CvXMLLoadUtility::SetVariableListTagPair
Current XML file is: xml\civlizations/CIV4CivilizationsInfos.xml

and finally this
Tag: LEADER_HANNIBAL in InfoClass was incorrect
Current XML file is: xml\civlizations/CIV4CivilizationsInfos.xml

It does this for every single leader, starting with the first. (Hannibal was the one that I happened to copy down.)
