You think the Imperium is going to have the Pope turn his back on them? We might have a misunderstanding but not going to end our relation. In the end your warmongering desires are ever noted.
Neither President Baker or incomming President Wells is a warmongerer. On the contrary, we want to reunite Canada by any means necessary, but preferably peaceful measures.
If we were warmongers, the Canadian Mounties would have already attacked NewFoundland. That we have not already bombed your European territories shows just how much of a peacenik David Baker is.
For the record, a message from incomming President-elect Franco Wells on the whole Pope-Imperium situation:
As a boy, I was always taught that Catholicism is pacifist. I've always been against war, I've always hated it. When I was a young and misguided member of the Quebec Secessionist Party, I counseled my allies in the party "Never go to war." "Never even consider war." I told them that it would be better to remain a Canadian province than to shed the blood of innocent soldiers. I am, of course, not a member of the Quebec Secession Party anymore. I am a proud Social Democrat, albeit much more socially conservative than my friends in the party. Nevertheless, I am just as committed to peace and harmony all around the world.
President Baker is not as averse to war as I always was. Nevertheless, he has convinced me during some confrences that it may be necessary in this case. The Imperium have acted like God both to us and to the peace-loving Pope Pius XXV.
We are not the Pope's personal army, we never will be. And while there are many Catholics in Canada, we are officially a secular nation. Nevertheless, Imperium is holding land that belongs to us, all the while angering the peace-loving pope with its own imperialism.
NewFoundland longs to be reunited to us. Our polls say two-thirds feel this way. And it is out of pure pragmatism we have not attacked the territory yet. I know President Baker wants reunification more than anyone.
If the Imperium continues its provocation on the territory, we will wage war. If the Pope declares war, we will consider that a sign from the heavens that the time is now.
Brace yourselves. Or better yet, get out of North America, oh ye sinners of Manx, and we shall have peace.
