Multipolarity III - Game Thread

OOC: Its not that I've lost, Id still exist, its that I can't actually play the game satisfactorily. Due to the strategic situation I've briefly mentioned I can't expand, and this ultimately consigns me to slow, and boring, decline to the point that diplomatic, strategic and economic options are denied me, unless of course one or both parties move elsewhere or certain exceedingly unlikely conditions occur in the international relations theatre. At any rate the USSR in MPII had options, I do not.

Twould as such be no fun and therefore there would be little reason to continue playing. It is just a game afterall and so its not like I'd be shattered to leave. Which is why Im contemplating (haven't committed to it yet) to quitting the game in some way, for the fact the current situation denies me options and thus enjoyment from the game, and because leaving is better than playing a game that is not fun. To make a point on the first reason, I can't even go colonise like RobertCant suggested to compensate for denied continental land, which would be reasonable if there was only one nation there, since that would basically leave an open door for conquest due to the presence of two ipso facto hostile neighbours, and risk assesment mandates I keep my armies at home due to the inability to know the plans and intentions of other people, and because any invasion while Im off abroad would lead to total collapse.

But the most irritating part is that RobertCant will probably go inactive after a few turns if precedent holds up making his entire obsession with Bosnia totally meaningless except for the bind it puts me in when it comes to actually playing the game, with Nedim of course being where he is purely to troll me and completing the almost laughable situation.

OOC: While I think Robert Can't is fully acceptable in his taking turkey, it is merely the Ottoman nation renamed, is the anti pope trying to do anything but troll? Where does it end? Should I scrap my nicely placed South America nation and instead join as the anti-anti-pope north of him? :/

The obvious place for new people to join is on the fallen ruins of Cascadia in West America. Lots of spare land there and only 3 rival PC nations (1 major NPC too). Other area include Africa and Australasia. See below for details.

Mali - Conservative Republic of Romney - Patriotic Fool
Carthage - Algeria - Sonereal

The Solitude Republic accepts the Blood Empire's trade proposal.

That "spare land" is in someone's SOI almost certainly. And while CivG might be okay with losing that space Bowser certainly won't be.

settling in someones SOI is perfectly fine, my problem is that the manner of their two settlements means I can't adequately play the game at all. Now originally, and Im fine with admitting it, I was just irritated at the fact Bosnia's settlement screwed all my plans for the region and so was pushing them to move as a quick resolution, however with the antipopes inclusion the whole situation turned to what I descibed, ergo a quite different kind of scenario than say me settling as Yamato next to the Jinrai republic, or someone settling in the ruins of Cascadia. Which is of course what has finally led to someone succeeding in getting me outright annoyed and contemplating leaving the game.

So I talked with RobertCant and told him his location prevented me from expanding, although rather ineptly considering I hadn't had time to really consider the situation and he obstinately persisted. Didn't even bother talking with Nedim since its clear he just did it to troll.

Well at the very least you could take control of a NPC if you want to keep playing. South america has space for more than just one PC.

OOC: The "sphere of influence" is less then a turn old, Cascadia's collapse having only recently happened. So while a nation re-emerging on this spot would cause tension and annoyance, it would not be an "in your face" placement that other area's would be.

So while I agree you are correct to a point, I do stand by my previous statement.

EDIT: Jehoshua is more then welcome to join me in South America as a new nation, but I think he prefers a more diplomatic style of play then would be allowed down here. Not to mention, as he says, he has invested in the Papal States.

Also thank you to the nations that have accepted the trade offers. I will write a more formal reply when all this current stuff has blown over and I have a sense of what is happening in the world.

The old men of the military had to admit that the President, despite his many glaring flaws, at least revolutionized Algeria. For the first time in decades, a nightlife existed in Algiers that didn't only consist of theft, murder, and assault. Rologhine ibn Firi used binoculars to glance over the the city from the penthouse suite of the hotel to the presidential palace.

Clerics, officers, politician, and other influential men of Algeria waited in stony silence. Rologhine couldn't blame the silence, but he much preferred some of his fellow officers when they were laughing, drinking, and smoking with laughing girls sitting on their knees. Their silence gnawed at him, but he understood. The difference between success and failure in their endeavors is the difference between sitting in upon a throne and sitting upon the dunk table looking down into a pool of sharks. The younger officers didn't understand this difference as well as the older ones in the room.

The clerics and politicians understood well enough. Time moved slowly that night.

Then the phone rang. Firi snatched it up instantly, "Yes?"

"It is done," the man at the end of the line said. He hanged up. Firi sighed and looked back out the window to the presidential palace.

"What was said, Firi?" Asked an officer.

Rologhine ibn Firi counted to five, and turned around, slowly. "It is Caliph Firi, my friend. Caliph Firi."

Yes, but that would involve forfeiting everything I worked to construct. The alliance structure, the strategic investments and so on and so forth. I would be starting from scratch losing everything, just because two trolls found a way to actually contain me and deny me the ability to satisfactorially play the game when they could easily settle in other places with no real loss to themselves.

just ditching Il Papa because of trolls would be even worse for me than leaving the game. I would only consider switching nations in any game if I was actually defeated in gameplay itself, not because I suddenly got unintentionally powergamed by the placement of hostile nations all around me.

Hey guys, I finally finished the beast and so all NPCs are mapped… out… now…

Good God what have I walked into?

Okay. Looking over the applications.

Bosnia is a legitimate nation to me based on RC’s RP and the like. It stays.

The Antipope is pretty blatantly made just to drive Jehoshua wild. While I don’t mind silly nations, I’m not exactly approving of antagonizing another player.

As such, while NedimNapoleon is free to play, the Antipapacy will be shifted to an area of low density should Nedim choose to stay in.

In lighter news. Welcome to the game Ravus! :)

Great, short and, well, great overall. If only everybody could do pieces like this. That includes me, of course.

The removal of the antipope would release me from the nearly unbreakable snare the diarchy of trolls put me in, even though Im still irked by Bosnia I work around it, actually take substantial action, and tolerate its existence while modifying my plans.

Cathisis: The Spammer's Crusade is happy that the Pope is not gone and that the anti-Pope is. So we give this free lolcat as a gift to the Pope.

Technically the anti-Pope can still be in. He'll just be shifted to a more remote location. Like the Caucasus.

Or Iraq. In which case I will call it the Baylonian Captivity.

Anti-pope isn't gone, just moved.

Council of the Blood King

Advance, and never halt,
for advancing is perfection.
Advance and do not fear
the thorns in the path,
for they draw only corrupt blood.

The Council convened at night at the pillars of Nosgoth, the throne of Kain. Each son wielded power and influence, some more then others. They would use their own clans and offspring in their never ending succession manoeuvrings.

Raziel was the favourite, first born, strongest and wisest of the sons. He stood mainly above the machinations of his siblings.

Raziel knelt, fist clasped to his chest. "Our offers of trade have been... accepted my lord. The Foreign powers stir, Algeria has heralded a new bloodline of Kings with it's Caliphate, we would do well to court them."

Turel, second born and leader of Domestic Affairs, scoffed, seizing the attention of the room. "You wish us to Pander to a human kingdom from afar? While the foreigners squabble loudly our neighbours remain quiet as lambs."

"Timid are they?" mused Dumah, third born and leader of the Military.

"They are only mortal, dear brother." Smiled cold Zephon, fifth born and cruellest of the Immortal Kings children. "Be they lambs or men, by war or trade, we shalt get our due."

As the dark children descended into bickering the quiet King drank deeply from his goblet, spilling greedily down his lips. He loved nothing more then seeing history being written in Blood.

Official Statement
To the foreign nations that have accepted our hand of friendship, we are glad. May time turn eternal on our peace. We will always remember those that responded quickly to our small empire. In return we will respect any holdings or client states you have in this area as a sign of friendship.

OOC: Thank you for the welcome and the initial trades to get my foot in the door politically.

Does anyone know for certain who the two foreign colonies in South America belong to? I believe the northern one is from Bowsers Costa Rica, But I can't place the colour of the Green one on the East Coast.

Cathisis: We (The Spammer's Crusade) gladly offer trade to the Blood King as well. We wouldn't want to miss out on trading goodness, would we? No, my kittens, no.

The Kingdom of Blood to the Spammer's Crusade

We welcome communication from the Spammer's Crusade.

The Blood Empire would welcome more trade, we hear that you have an abundance of both spam and kittens. While we do not need the former, the latter would be quite a delicacy. Newborn innocents would be best.

May the Kitten Blood Trade flow.

Yours, Benevolently
Raziel, leader of Foreign Affairs
