Tani, what is the cassus belli for any of the blockades and/or land invasion?
As I recall, one needed a reason for embargoing, blockades, and especially war.

OOC: The causus belli system is a UN, rather than hard-coded-game, mechanic. You can invade with no justification, but it's a violation of international law as laid down by the UN, and should result in in-game action by other players.

^ This. Cristos can declare war to his heart's content but it doesn't mean the other nation will abide by it. This is not a Paradox game where you have to find/fabricate a causus belli before declaring war.

You don't, but not having one might make you be judged badly in the international community.

EDIT: X-Post.

OOC: I was just thinking of the pre-game embargoes against Romnesia and Spammers, and I thought we needed a reason for things like that.

of course, that was birdjag's decision, perhaps tani doesn't go by the same policy.

OOC: Considering the revolt that decision caused I thought it obvious that they don't run on the same policy.

-the following is a global TV broadcast by the Manx, on the scence: Thomas Abelson of Liverpool, regent to the Emperor.-

Greatings peoples of Earth, especilly to fellow members of the faithful flock of God!

The Imperium of Man's actions against Romney are observed by the world all over. We in our struggle, losing a fleet in a strike down of three fleets, have proven our glory, but we have yet to declare notice of international consideration to Nambia. We, unlike Tropico, are a faithful Catholic power. We do not ally with demonic vampires or infidels. We are in horror of heresies such as Romney's Mormonism. Yet we are a ever considering force. We are hence have a declaration to make: Nambia must declare not to use additional weopons of mass destruction in their quest. We want you to save the flock to redeem them, not send them head on to the Lorde's judgement. Hence occupy with care. The Imperium is still in thought. We will continue to position our fleet in the West African seas for a few mounths before councilling the next action. We wish to see Romney's Republic become Catholic, set out in order and set out to not ally with forces of evil such as the Blood Empire. We issue that Tropico should redeem itself in the eyes of the Lord and side with the defenders of the Lord such as the Imperium. As for our continued action... we are ever revising of our considerations, espillly in light of the peace set out between the Manx and Canada. In light of this we will revise. You may find that we consider our options with care. In the end the present moment will dictate but we remember the past and seek the future. Consider our considerations and forgive Finbar for his scaring of the local populace: he is a man of large posture. Let us hope the war ends in the glory and love of the Lord setting Romney's Republic into the correct path of the Catholic will!

Unfortunately El Presidente was not able to listen to the international broadcast due to being busy competing in the tenth annual communist hunting competition. He has already leading in first place with a record setting six communist heads in the first day!

He has also announced that those who claim that he was assisted by the secret police be send to his vacation facility.

We do not ally with demonic vampires or infidels.

Cathisis: Well, if you don't ally with infidels then the letter to our country informing us of our broken relations apparently got lost in the mail. This and supporting a horrid regieme such as Nambia, we have no choice but to give the Imperium of Man a nice, fresh and steamy embargo.

Let us analyse this rationally.

Japan, Manx and Canada have lost practically nothing, so their populations are likely indifferent for the time being. The United States military (and other militaries to a lesser extent) intervenes all the time in other countries IRL, but the public generally do not care until body bags start piling up.

Namibia lost one ground force, but they have brought great glory to their country by so swiftly taking one of the foremost power's lands at minimal cost. If Namibia continues to lose troops discontent will grow, naturally, but for now, the war is a prestigious one. It is once casualties mount that things will get interesting.

As for the Namibians, that Romney tried to snatch away their clients at the same time of the invasion probably makes their populace more pro-war.

Kind of like how Costa Rica's people are probably mad at Jacob and Renesmee's betrayal. :p

I'm still trying to make sense of the powder keg that asploded in Africa :crazyeye:.

OOC: Basically many countries didn't like how Romney was quickly approaching the mark of clienting >50% of the NPCs and thought he had to be brought down a notch. Japan joined in because they didn't like Romney's defensive blockaded but didn't know there would be an invasion piggy-backing off of their success in breaking the blockade.

Everyone's casus belli against Romney is not valid IC but there was a clear reason OOC. Now Nambia has been accused of having WMD and people are siding up around the conflict.

Spammers and the Iron alliance are against Manx, Nambia, and whoever else they pulled in with them. Japan is sitting on the sidelines twiddling their thumbs and waiting to see how it plays out.

As far as RP goes I suppose your country would be horrified at the mindless violence going on in Africa but what do I know about your country?

Hey hey, not so fast. As we've been involved on one side, we consider that militarily engaging our former companions would be dishonourable, so we're just leaving those fleets there and we'll decide what to do as the situation unfolds. But Japan will not involve further into this messy affair.

Well considering you are voting that Nambia be investigated for the allegations of WMD I assumed you were against them. Sorry will edit my post.

No, I'm against WMDs.

-Prince Admiral Finbar Flanagon's voice booms once more along the Romney coast-

The Imperium notes that the UN lacks any physical power to defend the heretic forces of Romney! Even if it did it would be as strong as dirt compared to the divine might of the Imperium! We of the Imperium of Man entered the war to stop the Mormon heresy from spreading! We have contributed in navy power as a means of allowing our fellow Catholic power of Namibia to gain a taste of crusading glory. We are here on a crusade! Your influence endangers Christaindom!

Kain laughed.

"What is amusing father?"

The dark King smiled. "Why childe, it is obvious that they are merely imagining a religious justification for war. When all their dark hearts wish to do is stop a rival power from growing."

"What makes you say that?"

" Because," Kain replied. "If they were actually wishing to wage religious war on heresy and corruption they would have declared war on us. Not their rival. It looks like I do not have to do anything to throw the world into chaos. It is already full of evil men who will do it for me. Long live the Dark Imperium of Manx. It has made me proud."

OOC: Not got it in me today to make a big exposition and humour piece. This will have to do until the real update emerges. After all, this new drama is only half the picture on current world events.

Currently the biggest block before the update is recalculating embargoes, and calculating RP bonuses. So, here goes several pages. :p

We embargo the Papacy for not paying us their dues.

We hope our clients follow suit, seeing as that 20 income was instrumental in our payments.

Will be lifted when they pay us the 20 income.

It may only be paid to us, paying it to anyone else will not fulfill the 20 income requirement of our previous embargo, which is restated now.

:twitch: That Columbia better not be referring to Colombia.

The Holy See notes that Romnesia, failed to specify an what time, in a formal agreement, they expected their payment or when they wanted it recieved, and thus the Holy See assumed that as with bank loans it could pay whenever convenient as per ordinary principles so long as we did not delay excessively overlong. We note the Holy See offered a series of agreements with Romnesia, including such things as an Non-aggression pact that would of, if Romnesia has deigned to engage in hashing them out, included a timeframe, but this was rejected by Romnesia. This embargo by Romnesia therefore, when the Holy See has not broken any arrangement between us, id as such is incongrous and tantamount to a declaration of hostile intent towards us, therefore we resume our Embargo against them and call upon our clients, allies and friends to do the same.

We also abjure the statements we made previously at the request of Romnesia, and any requirement to pay Romney anything. We also note that the statement made were made solely in the interests of ensuring peace and order in the world and to ensure free trade. A peace that has unfortunately been sundered due to the angst created by Romney's illegal blockade of unnoccupied west african territory, and by the aggression of Namibia.

However the Holy See does understand that Romnesia is the defendant in its war, and despite its antagonism and arrogance towards the Holy See, we will in a sign of our goodwill and benevolence to the Romnesian people commit to assisting Romnesia in the paying of its debt to Algeria, should Algeria in turn agree as has been previously discussed between us from involving itself in the West African Conflict, and signs a Non-Agression Pact with the Holy See in a formal treaty. It is our perennial hope that this war not expand into a broader conflict, and thus in the interests of peace we are willing to do this if those conditions are met and confirmed by Algeria.
