Multipolarity III - Game Thread

The Embargo will be lifted once the Papacy pays its dues.

We call upon our allies and friends to do the same, seeing as the Papal States redacted their previous statement. They obviously don't value peace, and by affirming that they never regretted their message, show they were only out for Romnesia's destruction.

El Presidente facepalms at the two of you and points out that there are more important issues than when the Papacy should pay it's dues.

This turn sees new provisos.

-Trade fleets can now be attacked. One navy can sink 2.

-Blockades no longer cut trade income completely, only by 50%.

-To prevent way OP NGOs, NGOs longer suffer agent death. Instead, they have 1 agent per base. NGOs still have a large advantage in ability to field large spy forces for a fraction of the price majors have to pay, but investment in their infrastructure is key. NGOs have been compensated with 2 gold per agent liquidated as part of this shift.

Turn IV (2503)

Summary

Romnesia finds itself besieged by a coalition of nations angry at their diplomatic, trade, and land dominance. A large coalition fleet has crippled Romnesia’s fleet, and the world now teeters on the edge of a war with worldwide consequences. Revenues fall around the globe as traders become scared of leaving their ports, knowing many have been closed off to them.

Aden has quickly and swiftly subjugated the Somali government, extracting territory from them and also sending a clear message that Somalia is in its sphere of influence, royal and anarchic alike.

The Papacy has become a world leader in global peace efforts, diffusing conflicts and attempting to contain the spread of existing ones.

A revolution by Catholic elites has overthrown the People’s Republic of Sinai, and Shadow has taken refuge in Argentina with his friend Orobouros.

Asia has seen a massive shift in its future, with the Antipope gaining a considerable power base in the Caucasus, Japan now dominating the Pacific Rim with Jung’s fall, and many nations changing their allegiance to another state besides Romney. Tibet and the Indian Empire, once strong allies, now are enemies, giving the Long Dynasty much needed breathing room.

Measures to expand the UN’s power have been proposed, feeling an international body would be able to help stabilize the globe and prevent an outbreak of serious violence.

The Spammers’ low tax rates spur investment!

Patriots have swelled the ranks of belligerents the world over.

Refugees have fled from Namibia and Romnesia into neighboring countries, sensing the danger.

Piracy

No piratical activities; they were too busy getting drunk in Port Royale.

The Pirate Confederacy offers a deal to the nations of the world: they may pay an amount equal to 10% of their trade vulnerability to guarantee no attacks, or they may alternatively pay the ships (at a rate of 1 gold per vessel) to attack enemies. The Confederacy states that it will only attack defenseless ships.

Unrest

Tanzania finds itself couped. Ixis Naugus is overthrown briefly by Ixis Geoffrey, but Geoffrey himself is overthrown mere hours later by agents who restore Naugus. Naugus swears loyalty to Hyontou.

Serbia experiences large riots, forcing a huge tax cut and impacting Papal finances.

Riots in Manx force tax cuts.

A coup has overthrown Scott Pilgrim in Cascadia. Gideon Gordon Graves has established himself as dictator. He hates Canada with a passion, believing it has gone too mainstream, and he has sworn allegiance to Solitude.

A riot in Romnesia shuts down many businesses and factories, cutting into the economic strength of the nation.

Some rebels have risen up against Negan and killed one of his troops.

A forced tax cut happened to the Spammers.

India has descended into civil war.

Uruguay had a coup. The old government was a puppet of the SCP. Ebony being overseas, Master Xehanort has formed an oligarchy where magical power is the key to rank. Pro-Independence.

The same Papacy that sent out a PM demanding the destruction of another nation through subversive and covert means?

Dafuq?

The same Papacy that sent out a PM demanding the destruction of another nation through subversive and covert means?

ooc: IIRC, I only called for the weakening of the romneysphere via counterpurchasing of its clients and disruption to its economy, not Romnesia's destruction. That message was sent, amongst other reasons, to further the desire that a balance of power could be reached that was inherently more stable and thus more peaceful, without the need for bloodshed. This being preferable compared to having a single super power pursuing hegemony agressively, or having Romnesia being attacked swiftly in a bloody manner in order to prevent that eventuality, a risk raised even more considering Romnesia's belligerent and/or arrogant actions in areas such as the blockade of west africa, and in its relations with other states and also due to its formation of the Iron Triangle alliance which people would see as fundamentally contrary to their own well-being.

Ergo, my message was made in the hope that Romney could be brought down a notch without bloodshed, remaining a great power but one which wasn't destabilising to the world order and as such raising the chances of world conflict. Unfortunately events overtook everyone and the tensions already implict within Africa blew up. Ergo Il Papa was out for peace, since the ultimate cause of peace would of been best served by non-violently bringing the world, via the weakening of the Romney client sphere, into a state where there was a clear balance of power.

Regarding the blockade of West Africa..

(IC)

The blockade was intended to keep Africa for Africans. My clients and allies, who were all in direct contact behind the blockade, were free to expand anywhere behind the blockade or outside it if they desired.

In addition, we were only enforcing our SOI which was perfectly legitimate. Tell me, which nation enjoys having his SOI violated by others?

Never mind Papal influence has kept Europe stable and helped avert a war over Newfoundland. :p

Koopa Rica

We have spoken with General Guntz; he is fairly adamant about taking advantage of his nation's position as one of the few countries with spare territory to expand into. However, we have managed to convince him to avoid expanding eastward, which will keep that land between Tropico and the others in the region.

OCC: What happened to Black Ops? And how long does my nation have to keep it's tax cut?

Holy See's Official Statement on the War in West Africa

-

The Holy See is dissapointed at the outbreak of war in West Africa, especially considering it could of easily been avoided if all parties had been willing to talk diplomatically, as occured in the papal mediated agreement regarding the Newfoundland dispute, and as evidenced through our efforts, which are ongoing, to ensure a peaceful resolution to the German Question

It is our position that both sides have culpability in this conflict. Romnesia for its patently absurd blockade of unnoccupied land in West Africa and general belligerent attitude in international affairs, something still evident in its unjustifiable decision to re-instate its embargo on the Papal States despite us having never violated any agreemetn, and Namibia for its decision to invade over its concerns at Romnesian power and belligerence and for the purpose of advancing the "African Revolution" to West Africa.

The Papal States will in light of this do all it can to ensure this war lasts the shortest time as possible, and that as few innocents as possible are killed. We as such offer ourselves as mediators should both parties see that a peaceful resolution is of the greatest benefit to all involved, despite Romnesias absurd hostility towards us as evident through its association with demons and the aformentioned embargo incident.

The Fate of Mogami Yoshifune
Spoiler :
In the garden of the Kubota Castle, a man is dying. Around him, only trees and sparse bushes witness his death. Laying on his back, under a Japanese cherry and surrounded by momijis and azaleas, he cries in pain. Strangely enough for 2503, this one man is wearing a kimono and, most shockingly, a daisho, symbol of the samurai that so many centuries ago was banned by the Emperor. His wazikashi is missing, the sheath hanging empty on his belt. It is quite clear, then, that it is in fact his own sword that he has been stabbed with. Had he remembered that he was wearing a kusari gusoku, he could have had removed it before trying to commit seppuku, but the alcohol running along his veins veiled his mind.

Under the Japanese moonlight, the crimson stain on the kimono shines bright red, and the edge of the blade reflects the light towards the eyes of the semi-unconscious moribund. He suddenly moves, as if awaken by the sudden stream of light into his eyes, crying in an agony he fears too long. He sees his kimono, showered in blood as he retires the blade from his abdomen, his face twisting into a grimace of pain and fear, his voice emitting low groans that express the most supreme pain a man has ever experienced. As the blade exits the body, rhythmic spasms splash drops of blood all around the deadly wound, and the blade itself is stain with and covered in blood. The mail he wears is tingling at every inch of the sword that is pulled away, and it all shakes when, finally, the edge is out and catches a link, lifting it and letting it fall again.

No words can describe the pain that haven’t been already used, as the wazikashi is lifted horizontally, moonlight reflecting on the edge and shining over the blood. Soon, though, the spectacular image disappears as the arm falls hopelessly to the ground, letting go of the carefully made handle and leaving the precious item forgotten on the floor. With the momentum gained and the slight slope of the garden, the sword bounces once and rolls twice, stopping a good two yards away from the man, who has moved and lays now on a gravel path leading to an external pavilion. Said path is a mere two feet away from the Japanese cherry under which our man was first, and is fully illuminated by the moonlight, which now falls mercilessly over his eyes, pulling him into consciousness, unwillingly keeping him awake, forcing him to experience the full pain as his blood thins and extends over the floor. Leaving behind a trail of blood, he crawls and tries to scream in infinite pain, as he tries to reach for the pavilion.

His sight, already blurry thanks to alcohol, is now nearly non-existent, he is nearly blind, and his brain desperately checks his eyes over and over again, anxious to know again, to regain the perception of its surroundings. His screams of pain are no more, fear, and anxiety dying its sound to a mourn for his lost soul, set adrift in the tribulations of this unique person. Memories strike the mind with a melancholic feel, his Nippon mother’s memory violated by his failure to honour it, his American father’s memory dishonoured by the knowledge of taking such a cowardly decision, all in all striken by rage and disappointment at himself for his repeated failures and his useless mastery of weapons, that now failed to him in providing a night-long agony of excruciating pain. Carried over by his feelings of rage, he continues his struggle as the moon descends to let the sun give birth to a brand new day. Thus, when the moon has hidden behind the farthest wall and many hours have passed, he finds himself at the doors of the pavilion that is his home.

Blind, he stumbles against them, and clumsily tries to find the edge to pull them open. A full minute later, he is pushing against them to get inside, still crawling over his belly, teeth clenched and trying to stand the pain. But when he hits the edge of the pavilion’s floor, which is higher than the floor, that is impossible, and he contorts and screams as loudly as a man would think he is not able to. To his dismay and surprise, it comes with a rain of blood, as he feels something coming up his oesophagus. Waving his arm widely, fiercely and desperately, for he fears choking more than any other death imaginable to him, he hits a low and ornate table over which his daisho stand can be found. The violence of the impact has some of his hand bones crack, and the surprise is such he can’t avoid groaning. Wrong, now he has blood in his lungs as it also pours from his mouth with the low sound. But he cannot fail now, he must go on, and pulls the table down to the floor with his broken hand.

The table hits the floor and the surface crashes, revealing a hidden compartment, whereas the daisho stand falls over his unprotected chest and hits him in the wound. Once again, his scream is suffocated by the blood flooding his lungs and his mouth. Feeling more pain now stinging his helpless lungs, touches the table fast and desperate and clumsy, looking for the crack he misses thrice. But the fourth is the good time, and introducing his hand through it, grabs the pistol that is inside.

He knows his death is inevitable, he has known all night long, when he stabbed himself under the cherry, but now his fate is sealed, he can’t breathe any more, and the body is running out of oxygen. He is now aware that his efforts have been in vain, that by the time he pulls the trigger, he will be dead already, but still he pulls the pistol out of the compartment, his hand now stung by a thousand little pieces of wood. As his mind vanishes and his last gulp of oxygen is gone, he pulls the trigger and fires the gun against the wall, the blowback turns him around and he dies, laying on his belly, pouring blood from his mouth, the kimono now crimson-black as the first rays of sun enter the pavilion and give colour to the stains and the scene.

Scuse me for the double-post, but why isn't Shanghai listed as ally of mine?

ooc: There are some errors in the stats page. This has already been noted to Tani so you still have Shanghai.

Ah, kay, thanks.

Jeho speaks the truth. :p

OOC: I hate to be honest in this case, but well, no matter my RP I don't like to be evil. The Blood Empire stats say I have no debt and I'm pretty sure I do.

You ran a surplus. :p

Yes, you do. You even tried to seek approval from a non-involved ally if you were to use nuclear weapons against West Africa. You have at least three.

I do not have Nukes.

If you do not believe us, we request both the UN and you to search for Nukes in Namibia.
