Forgive me if there is already a topic for this (couldn't find one.) What songs do you like to listen to while you are playing? To take off a few, I have some for wartime.

Hatebreed: Destroy Everything
Marilyn Manson: This Is The New Sh*t (really good when you are way ahead in techs and using stealth bombers and nukes on musketmen.)
Demon Hunter: I Am A Stone (quiet and great when you are facing a stubborn, equally or more powerful enemy. This happened to play for me during a civ 4 game where is trapped on a peninsula under constant war with my northern neighbor/land oppressor. War lasted almost entire game, neither of us able to take each other's ground despite his rapidly advancing tech, until it was his tanks against my riflemen. A song about persistence and never backing down.)
Fear Factory: Back The F*ck Up
Dope: Burn & Die Motherf*cker Die
Linkin Park: Nobody's Listening
Chimaera: Power Trip
Project 86: Fall, Goliath, Fall

Eve from the dynasty warriors soundtrack
Hope - Apocalyptica

Both for war + whatever happens to be playing on Slacker Radio

Hatebreed (from my home state CT.), Disturbed, Breaking Benjamin, Sabaton, FFDP, Slayer, Megadeth, Dope etc etc, it's a long list, all metal.

I tried listening to Prodigy (the fat of the land), while playing CiV, but each time i did i ended up firing battlefield 3 after 30 minutes of listening.. So in game music for me too.

I still listen to in game music a lot as it is good, but sometimes it needs that personal touch.

Yeah, if it's not ingame music, it's Chimaira, Mudvayne, John Mellencamp, Weird Al, In Flames, Ektomorf, Ill Nino, Trivium, Ra, or the Police.

Only in game music. I like "hipsterish" black metal, so naturally it would just distract me and prevent me from immersing myself in the game.

I usually just play without music, except the in-game music that is.

I like the in-game music a lot and mostly listen to that, but when i don't it's relaxing folk music, even during war haha.

I really like the in game music as well, but sometimes I like to turn off all the sounds except for speech and listen to some old school punk rock.

Earlier I was listening to the Oddities.. album by Circle Jerks and had 5 of the 7 other nations declare war on me at the same time. I guess they weren't fans..

One of my favorite features from Civ4 was that you could set up a custom soundtrack from the in-game options menu. I also really enjoyed the music in Civ 4 because it was all era specific. Sure, there's no real unique Civ music, but i really liked the cave-man type music in the ancient era.

Didn't really like the music when i first played Civ 5, especially since it was not era-based, and there's like 3 soundtracks for each Civ: Peace music, war music, and default music. Some are interchanged, like Polynesia can get that native-american type "hey-how-are-ya" song, which seems a littler weird to me, but whatever.

As far as custom music goes, if I got bored with era-based music in Civ 4 I would just custom-track a whole Dethklok album. A lot of Dethklok's music is themed around ancient/medieval things, like Atlantis and barbarian warlords. Love the music video where Nathan Explosion breaks into a dark ages fort and splits Squisgaar's face with an axe while he's boning a concubine. Great stuff

Either TV or dubstep hiptster gedöns ([gedöns] coll. german for stuff) playlist. Listening to sth more demanding/agressive, e.g. Sabaton or Dark Tranuqility would just stop me from immersing. I'd turn off the music if stuff gets heated in-game and forget to turn it on again. CIV is too tranquil and yet so demanding as I could focus on music while playing.

Wow, tons of metalheads here.

Typically I listen to the game music. If I'm listening to other music it is normally because I'm in the mood for something happy/trippy. Lots of Grateful Dead....

I like in game music. Especially Middle Eastern civs have great music.
