At 3:06 EST, my grandma died. This wasn't a big shock because she had been in the hospital the last 3 months (she accidently burned herself with a candle) and about 3 days ago the doctors realized that she wasn't making any progress, her skin grafts weren't healing and she wasn't fighting the infection. So my mother (her only child) told them to stop active treatment (the blood pressure medicine and dyalisis) and let nature take its course. My sister just called me. Although I am so far able to cope pretty well, my mother is pretty upset and so is my 10 year old sister. So those of you who are so inclined, please remember my mother and my grandmother in your prayers.

I know these are only words, but for whatever it is worth, you have my deepest condolences.

Nothing helps but as NK said you have my deepest condolences, remember the good times before she got sick.

I'm sorry man, I know all too well how hard it is to lose close family (no living relatives except dad & sis), and its just one of those things where you have to go through the grieving process, remember the good times, and all that stuff... no words can really help.

Consider it done, Eran. Thankfully, even though I've never met you, don't know your name, and so forth, God will know who it's meant for.

And for what it's worth, I'm truly sorry.

Thank you, all of you. This is the first time that someone I knew has died, and I don't know how my mom will take it. They will have a memorial service for her soon back home in Rochester, NY, then in the spring she will be buried in her native Alabama, alongside her mother (who died in 1997) and her sisters.

I am not a praying person, but i hope you can find solstice knowing she is free again, not restricted by her aged body, and instead in spirit looking down on you with love.

Very sorry, man. You and your grandmother are in my prayers.

My aunt's grandmother passed away on New Year's, and that was sad because it just all of a sudden happened.

My condolences. Both of my grandfathers died. Of stroke. I know how you feel. :(

the one thing to remember is that your grandmother would not want you to grieve, but to miss and remember how much she undoubtably loved you and yours and the good times you enjoyed.

Very true. One of the worst parts for a person dying must be leaving behind sad loved ones I imagine.

I know how you feel man, my grandfather passed away this summer and it was one of the most random and shocking moments of my life. I was truly speechless when my grandmother called me to tell me that. I just couldn't speak because I felt like I betrayed my grandfather by not visiting him more often. I expected him to just always be there but he was just taken away from me so fast.

I hope that your grandmother is in a better place now.

:( I'm sorry. My grandfather is also lying in hospital right now and the future doesnt look so bright.

I'm very sorry Eran...my deepest condolences for a fellow forumite :(

And my best wishes to Eli.

Keep hoping, do not begin to get sad yet there may be time for that afterwards but cherish the life he has right now.
