Does anyone know the name/Wiki link of that cathedral they're building in Italy (Rome, I believe) that was originally thought to have been finished in 2650, but now, with modern technology, they've been able to change that date to 2150?

Thanks for any help,
GE

Maybe it's because no cathedrals, or any human construction for that matter, still takes hundreds of years to build these days?
I have no idea what you're talking about.

it is possibly not a cathedral in Rome, but rather in Barecelona? Sagrada familia? By Antonio Gaudi?

Does it fly because thats the only building i could imagine taking another 150 years to build

Never mind.

That must be quite a cathedral that takes that long to be built.

well, technically it's not a cathedral, but a basilica, IIRC. :)

one reason why it's so slow (appart from being funded entirely by donations) is that most original plans by Gaudí were destroyed during the spanish civil war.

Agreed...it looks like something straight out of a children's fairy tale book. All it's missing is a witch circling the steeple in her broom cackling against a backdrop of a full moon.

Well, if most of the plans were destroyed, how do we no that model is what the cathedral is actually supposed to look like.

I hope not, because that rendition IS vile. Is that writing on it? It looks like a bloody amusement park ride.

Looks like a cross between Stereotypical Evil Emperor and Candyland architecture.

What do you expect? It's designed by Gaudi! Possibly the most eccentric architect ever. Well certainly the most eccentric in the 20th century.

His ideas were always unusual. And sometimes unappreciated. One of the housing projects he designed for a developer failed to sell even a single unit. Eventually the city government bought the land and lo! The existing Gaudi works on it made it a very successful and attractive park. (I have forgotten the name of this park but I am certain of its existence. Perhaps someone native to Spain could supply it and perhaps a link?)
