I watched a recent TV show about the Nasca Lines and a civilization of sorts that lived in and around that desert (I forget what they were called, NOT the Incas) that had supposedly made them. They are still finding skeletons in ruins that are located in the area.

Now for the question, what do you think that the Nasca Lines were created for? Alien runways, underground irrigation or waterways, or even a road or highway system of sorts.

Sorry, DP

Interesting topic. It seems there are two types of lines indeed : The ones forming figures like the spider, the condor... and the inmense straight lines. The former may be some sort of religious symbols made by some indian civilization. The straight lines are obviously older since the figuers are drawn over them. His authors and finality are a total mistery.

The spider

The condor

The owl-man (AKA the astronaut :scared: )

The trapezoids, part of the long straight lines.

^ That is always how I understood it. The other theories involve ancient flying machines and aliens.

I would think religion, as I cannot think of much else they could be within reasonable terms.

This may sound like a crazy conspiracy theory, and well, it sort of is. ;)

Look at a number of facts about them, first, they have no obvious purpose:
A) So they symbolize something

or

B) It is beyond modern knowledge (let alone what they knew then) what purpose they serve.

And secondly, it would be impossible to make them:
1) They get like only an inch of rain a year there (and remember to be classified as an official desert the region in question must have less than 10 inches of rainfall a year, so that is a really dry there), so they already have severe water shortages let alone what would be required for such an undertaking.

2) The sheer scope of it is both illogical and yet again impossible.

So, there must be some other force involved. Alien life is, quite frankly, impossible on a number of levels, let alone the chance of life existing on another planet but somehow reaching Earth after hundreds of thousands of years of travel. The only possibility is, therefore, the Nephilim (well, technically demons not Nephilim). Now, look at those pictures. The spider and the condor and all, they are realistic though slightly stylized. That "man" is obviously crudely drawn for one of two reasons. One possibility is they could not really see what this strange creature instructing them (or doing it him/her/itself) was or it was just very strange looking. Now, before the Mabbul (or Noah's flood, yeah, this sounds crazy, I'm not here for a debate I'm just posing a freaky conspiracy theory that does add up but also for fun) the Nephilim, the giant children of women and demons (who inspired the "mythological" creatures such as centaurs or satyrs, and also traditional Nordic giants because that's what they looked like, many different monsters) built many things and taught mankind much, such as metal working. They also built the Pyramids, BUT BEFORE THE FLOOD! What makes me believe that? Water damage on the Pyramids, that's what! So the Egyptians settled there and found these things still around (as well as other ziggurats and pyramids in Central America, and I think a few in Cambodia). The Bible says mankind was destroyed in the flood, not a few strong buildings.

Now, the Nephilim proper might have died in the flood, and also the Nasca Lines would not have survived the Flood. So, demons built it. All the accounts of UFOs and alien abduction, when not caused by hysteria (sp?) and mental illness, is the work of demons and/or Nephilim. So, the Nasca Lines were built by demons and/or Nephilim.

Feel free to laugh at me, I don't care. I am sick of having to explain every little thing and try to "compromise" with people who are wrong. I posed a wacko conspiracy theory because it's just plain right and I felt like it. :p

As you wish:

Sorry but the invite was quite explicit. Just because we cannot explain something or it seems illogical to us, that does not mean we should reach for illogical answers to explain phenomena. Gravity was not 'run by aliens' prior to Newton codifying its natural laws. Hieroglyphics were not believed to have been inspired by great alien works of literature until the Rosetta Stone was discovered.

There is much that still eludes us in this world and we need not reach for alien conspiracy theories to mask our scientific and historical nudity.

Going a bit OT, It is a very common opinion that stelar travels are not possible becuase the distances are too huge and nothing can go faster than light. Well, it is true, but in fact it is true only for the static observers. In fact you could circumnavigate the universe in some minutes if your ship speed is enoughly close to the speed of light , lets say 99,999999 % of the speed of light. Of course for an exterior static observer such travel would last thousands of millions of years but for the people in the ship the voyage would be nearly instantaneous. (of course I am not saying that this has something to do with Nazca lines, i was clarifying this point only. ;) )

Rambuchan, I CLEARLY said I don't believe in aliens. It is not an extraterrestrial conspiracy theory, it is a demonic conspiracy theory. ;) Look at what I said:

Now, when you say "illogical to us" to you me modern humans or mankind in general? If we can't understand their purpose now, how could they understand it then? Or bother to do it? Look at what else I said, the undertaking of it is truly quite insane, considering there's about 1 inch of rain there a year. I mean, it's not like they're building some massive city, or a grossly over-sized temple. This possess no purpose we (all mankind, includng whoever made the Nasca Lines, or more accurately was adjacent to its existence ;)) can see. It's not a road, because why is it in very clear patterns? And it can't, like, follow the path of underground water (that's one theory I heard) because what are the odds it would form such complex shapes? Come on. The existence and creation of the Nasca Lines is pure madness, it cannot be explained by "oh, we don't get it, but a technological backwards bunch of llama-herders understood what they were doing and managed to do it." No offense to any Peruvians.

And this might come up soon, but it was not done my modern man. Sure it was only discovered when planes first flew over the area, but in the Nascan burial grounds on pottery are some of the same line designs. So, it was obviously done many, many centuries ago, it has no understandable purpose, and could not be done by mankind on a number of levels but most prominantly such a lack of water. You (anyone, not "you" Rambuchan in particular) can just ignore the improbability of the forming of the reasoning behind the Nasca Lines, but for now I think I'd go with the foul work of demons since similar things have happened in the completely reliable Bible.

I'll say it again, I'm sick of compromising with people who are wrong just because they know the code for all the mocking smilies. ;) :p :shakehead  :dubious: :rotfl:

couldnt people have just made them like people make crop circles today?

Actually, it is similar but not identical (obviously). There is a thin layer of dark colored rock on top of lighter rock beneath it. You just remove the darker stuff and you have a Minas Tirith white stone. But the precision with which these were made is what is really astounding.
