Native America Mod

Because, Mobilize wouldn't get the most updated version. (Right R8XFT? :) )

Right, Unexisted ;) .

I'm working on the ini files as from now. You may be interested to know that I've made all the advisors Native Americans. There's just one image for each though, so they don't change expression or with the eras. I think it looks more in flavour with the mod. Just download the small file below and pop it in your Art folder of the mod. Let me know what you think :) .

Update: I've now completed the repairs, but the "fix" is 22meg. This not only updates the errors, but includes all the updates we've done since Sword_Of_Geddon's patch.
So in other words, to download the mod at the moment you need the "Download the legend," "Native America 3.0 patch," and then this one. I'll upload it soon as I get a response from Thunderfall.

New civ : Chippewa

Whilst I'm waiting for Thunderfall to ok another upload, I thought I'd increase the tribe number from 19 to 20. 19's an odd number don't you think? Anyway, meet and greet the all new civ to this game, the Chippewa. They have the seafaring trait, civilopedia entry, 3D animated leaderhead (in the style of the others I did), all the pcxs' :p and I gave them the Chippewa Canoe as a UU, replacing.....canoe ;) ...it goes faster than an ordinary canoe.
The tribe will, of course, be included in the update when I can upload.

Appreciate the feedback :goodjob: .

I'd hang on though until this update's online as there are some errors and crashes with the version available at the moment. This update solves them all (I hope!)

Its not just the ini files RF, its the filenames for some units as well
Did you cover those as well?

Nice civ and leaderhead to I might add. Is their UU new? Or did you reuse the canoe for it? Either way is fine.

Oh, and by the way, did you like the unit civilipedia entries I did?

I like the new leaderhead, RBXT. The quality of work in this mod is very good. By the way, I wonder if a small wonder or great wonder of the cactus with the bird (vuture?) on it. It was the sign that caused the Aztec to found their country.

I didn't know about the cactus - what effects could that wonder have do you think?

Sword_Of_Geddon - I realised it wasn't just the ini - I've corrected the lot ;) . The canoe is the same graphics as the normal canoe, it's just faster - in fact it's down as 2 move per turn + as the Chippewa are seafaring, it gets an extra move. Pretty useful UU, I'd say.

Can anyone get my user name right, BTW? It's R8XFT :p .

I got it right...(copying......pasting....) :p

You work fast RXF8T (;):D), too bad I didn't personally know you as an employee. :D Unless you fingers move faster than yourself.
Anywayz, advisors look good. But I guessed you would make them like you leaderheads, so they'd appear more 3dimensionally realistic. But, if think their acceptable. But throughout it, everything seems to be going quite well, hell, it's better than I expected this mod to turn out. :D

Yeh, R8XFT managed to get it before me. I'll do the heavy modifications (if needed :D ) Then after, importing the world map. I'll consult Mobilize and give'em the .biq Then he can make the locations...which you know

Unexisted - is that a job offer :p ?

I didn't want to do the 3D thing on the advisors as I'd come across some nice pictures whilst researching for the mod, and wanted them to become involved somehow - and they wound up as advisors. At least it gives the mod a Native American feel.

I'm just waiting for the nod from Thunderfall and I'll upload the updates. I've been playtesting it for a bit. That's the best part of modding :D .

BTW, what's been bugging me all day is that the new leaderhead for the Chippewa reminds me of an actor, but I've just figured out who it is - that bloke from "Jake and the fatman."

He's already given me the nod for the 3.2 patch(Which I've abandoned since it would not have worked, and your version is similiar, and would probably do what my patch could not have done)

I've PM Thunderfall asking for permission to lend you the access he gave me, that way, we can get down to business as they say.

Oh, and I've also posted a unit request to Aaglo(the maker of the Native American fictional ship), for a Mesoamerican/South American fictional ship. If he says he'll do it, we could use that as a flavor unit for the Meso and South American tribes to replace the Pahrump.

The above image is what the cactus with the eagle eating a snake looks like. It was told to the Aztec that when they see this image, to build a town there. I think it could be used to increase food production in desert or tundra cities for non-articultrual nations. Probably work as a small wonder which you can get after eight granies or similar style improvements.

New civ : Blackfoot

I've done another leaderhead. This time it's Winterhawk of the Blackfoot tribe. I'll finish him off in the morning, hopefully by which time I'll get the go ahead from Thunderfall and can upload.

It's 3D, basic animation with full pcxs, like the rest I've done.

What? Another new leaderhead? What do you have a factory making these or something R8XFT?

Wow, so now theres 21 civs. And If I get my way, there will be 22....

About that: Unexisted, I would like to know if it'd be okay to add another island tribe and use the "Masked Leaderhead" for it, since I've finally been able to download it.

Perhaps we could even add the Polynesians, since they were descended from mainland South Americans and therefore kind of fit in to the Native American feel.

We could use the same city graphics as we are currently using for the Tupi.

The original symbol of the Aztecs was an eagle having a human heart in his bill. But due to Christianity all symbols which somehow pointed to human sacrifice were soon altered by the Aztecs, either of fear or because they too started to share the Christian ethics yet still lived their Amerindian culture. Thus they didn't want to tell or couldn't accept themselves traces of human sacrifice in their culture anymore. Their hero-Godking Quetzalcoatl was turned into a peaceloving, monotheistic butterfly-sacrificing king who didn't perform human sacrifices anymore. The same has been told about other hero-kings (Nezahualcoyotl), but for some reason we find these ideas only in post-conquest sources...

Anyhow, as I see that you still add the one or the other civ and the train's not completely gone. May I point out that you don't have a single Canadian Indian civ? I mean Ojibwa and Cree both occupied vast areas compared to tribes like Mohicans, who were rather abysmal. Another question: Why did you include the Seneca additional to the Iroquois? IIRC, the Seneca were part of the Iroquois league. Or you could have the Tlingit from the coast.
And from South America, there is definitely a need for a northern Andean civ, either the Chimú or the Chibcha. The Incans have to cover all the Andes in your mod. That's like if you had only the Iroquois East of the Mississippi in the US...
Apropos Mississippi, it's somehow not satisfying that the so important Adena/Hopewell/Mississippi culture is not represented in the mod. The closest ethnicity in there are the Shawnee. I don't dislike the Shawnee but that's a bit poor to represent that culture. Why not Mississippi. I mean there wasn't a tribe called "Powhatan" either. It's just the name of a ruler...
f you don't like the names above, why not the Natchez?

If it was for me, I'd make the following changes:

Seneca --> Ojibwa
Mohican --> Chimu
Shawnee --> Missisippi/Natchez
?Navaho (Dené) --> Tlingit?

I know, it's your mod and you want it your way, so feel free to just ignore me.

And it was a good thing that the Azteks embraced Christian Morality to wasn't it? Them Azteks did some pretty horrible things to their own people and naighbors, then again, the Spainish so-called Christians were just as bad as they were.

Maybe we'll add another tribe(other than the Island one I'd like to be in the mod) but we are not changing any tribenames unless Unexisted wants to.

Thanks for the imput.

PS. Are you Aztek descended Nahuixtelotzin?

Good show R8XFT, and I'll see if I can think of a wonder (small?) Maybe just Aztec flavor?

@Sword_of_Geddon, of course! THe more civs, the more fun. But let R8XFT add it. (So we can hurry up :D)
We'll place them on the Hawaiin islands of course, but, in our (will use) world map, Isn't Hawaii only 2-3 spaces? Only good for 1-2 cities. No resources. But we can still work it out.

I think we'll have two versions. World Map (w/Europe), just the Americas (Hawaii also) and one Random Map. :)

I'll take care of the maps though, so I can do at least one thing at the end. :)

Still waiting for Thunderfall's PM :) , hence lack of upload so far.
Ok, I'll add Hawaii, but I'll use the Liliuokalani leaderhead. That'd make two female leaderheads as well. The masked leaderhead that Sword_Of_Geddon's been wanting us to add is more likely to work with the Chibcha tribe, according to Mobilize.

Nahuixtelotzin - according to information I got from the Native Indian database I've been using, there was a Powhatan tribe, although I'm no expert. I just wanted a way of getting Pocahantos in there :p . I like the Seneca and want to keep the tribes we've got - but there's still space to squeeze more in, so I'll see what I can come up with re. Ojibwa, Chimu and Natchez.

This Aztec wonder. I'm thinking that if we give the Aztecs a non-researchable, non-tradeable tech at the beginning of the game, it would allow us to put in a wonder that only they could build? We could then make any building in the game a pre-requisite for the wonder to be built, making it so it could arrive at any time. I don't want it to be too powerful though, as it would be unfair to the other tribes.
